Did the old Ford get in a wreck there? Might have to call a tow truck. :P

Keep up the good work. It's looking good. The only thing I would have done was used a red chassis. Not sure why but I love green on red after seeing a Pete my dad built that way. But thats just me. Looks good.

The payload will be the original isue fruehauf box van, (T-507) and that poses a question for me. what color should it be? white, or silver like a traditional dry van. gimme you thoughts guys. Thanks, Scott

Nice job on the tractor, Scott. The white trailer sounds alright, but I prefer stainless trailers myself, especially on an owner operator style truck. I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but I thought maybe this pic would give you an idea.

I used Elmer's sprayable craft glue to attach good old household aluminum foil to the sides and roof. I, of course, left the shiny side out on the sides to replicate the stainless steel sides and I put the dull side out on the roof to replicate the aluminum roof these old trailers had. I burnished it much the same as you would Bare Metal Foil, and even though it's a little thicker than BMF, it shows the engraved detail such as the rivets and ribbing very well.

Hey Scott

Well Done.

  • The Fruehauf Van sounds like a winner to me. Here's how I recommend painting the trailer.
  • Roof - Model Master Aluminum Metallizer. Polish and Use a Dull Coat Clear Coat.
  • Upper/Lower/Nose Rails - Tamiya Bare Metal silver (gives the best dull aluminum appearance IMO)
  • Side ,Nose, and Radius Panels - Model Master Classic White w/ dull coat clear coat.
  • Door Frame,Fan Tail, I.C.C. bumper - Model Master Classic White. Don't dull coat this.
  • Dolly Leg Assembly,Bogie/Axles, - Tamiya Semi Gloss Black
  • Coupler Plate, Kingpin,Slider Rails (underside) - Model Master Magnesium Metallizer
  • Under Carriage,Crossmembers Underside of the Floor - Tamiya Light Grey (To represent RPC Sealer)

Hmmm, ya got me on that one :D . i had to shorten the shocks to fit, they were to long to fit properly, i musta tweaked that one some how, i got couple lil things i wanna touch up anyways, so i just add that one to the list.

Semi trailer mech. Thanks for the color tips, thats a BIG help. much appreciated..
