nails3825 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hey hey! This is from my Uncle's collection... he built it over 45 years ago and gave it to me along with most of his other models. You can see them here, if you're curious (just follow that long link below) http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=522545524&albumId=222633 This one looked just like the others... if you can imagine. I redid it maybe ten years ago, not sure... but this is how she turned out It still doesn't have an engine, but it looks good sitting there Thanks for looking!
Guest Johnny Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Nice! Love that car! Guy down the street from me had one when I was a kid! Had a Big block Chevy under the hood though!
Jim Gibbons Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Cool! I built that kit back in the '70s in red (one of the models I spent the $ on a can of spray paint for) with a black interior. Unfortunately, it's not one of the kits that survived the decades. One of my favorite aspects of the kit was that it didn't have a lot of chrome trim to paint.
dimaxion Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) Studebaker was making V/8s while Chevy was still slugging out the Stovebolt . Four model years before the SBC . Why would anyone remove a Perfectly good Stude V/8 capable of 700 + HP on Pump Gasoline ? It had to be well abused and clapped out and finished . Excellent build . Thanx .. elan Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 One of my favorite American cars. Waaay ahead of its time. A very nice restoration job.
impcon Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 A VERY pretty car - I knew a guy who had a real one - a '64, I believe it was. It had a 289 with a four speed and that thing flew! I rode in it and the interior really awed me with it's full instrumentation. All in all, a very seldom seen and IMHO highly under rated car that as said, was 'way ahead of it's time. As for the rest of your Uncle's collection - i wouldn't want to have to try to buy every one of those pieces on Ebay. I wasn't sure at first if the models were made to look like abandoned relics or if that was just dust.. I guess after reading your post again, it was just dust. They look sort of cool though.. very naturally aged..
voljeepx Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 The Avanti is a true classic beauty, this design will be fresh 100 years from now. Nice resto on a great kit!

Well by the size of the hole that was in the oil pan I's say the original Stude engine turned 1 rpm too many!
bsoder Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Great lookin Avanti, that lt. blue looks real good on it!...think I'll post mine
nails3825 Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks for the comments guys! Glad to see it got some attention Midnightprowler ~ I'm not sure what the color was (forget) but I do remember it was "rustoleum" spray paint...
Captain Obvious Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 It's rare to see a 1:1 Avanti, much less a scale model of one....looks sweet! Is that a Wisconsin collector plate on it?
