THERE'S NO ENGINE IN IT!!! That stinks, and I was going to get one, too! As for how good a kit it is, I don't know, obviously I've not bought one. I did read somewhere there is no 1/20 scale trailer kits ever made to go with it, so if you want a nice Pete 359 that you can have a trailer on, here's a couple suggestions, with engines, too! The Revell Pete 359 that was the former (well still is, just not marked)Snaptite builds nicely and has a Cat 3406 engine. Here's one I have in progress with a car carrier.

The other choice is Revell of Germany's Pete 359, it is a full glue and is nicely detailed. It is the same kit that Revell AG based the (incorrect) Can Do wrecker from, and I believe is also the base for the recent 353 Revell AG just released as the "Westernlife" truck. If I remember, the 353 still has the rounded fenders in the kit as well as the squared off ones. These have Cummins engines in them, and can be very pricey. My LHS has the "Westernlife" on the shelf for almost $90! Either way you'd go, the 1/25 scale ones sound more detailed than the Lindberg, and would allow you to add trailers down the line.

i know matt i was pissed but she is big i got plans to make the shiny stuff look more dull for a more real look and i am thinking of going blue. but it still looks fun none the less the wife was like WHOA!!!!!! lol its about the size of one of my pit bulls head B)

yeah that revell snap is a nice kit with decent detail , and you cant beet the price. i can get one from hobby shop for $19 or yu can have delivered to your door $23 totall from my atomic. really a good deal on a peterbilt and even if all you want is the motor its still cheeper than tryin to buy resin cat 3406

I posted the "no engine" in this kit quite some time ago. The kit is a beginners model.

When I photographed the box art models it was almost impossible not to see under and through the front fender.

If an enterprising resin cast could come up with an engine, then the kit has some additional possibilities.

It is a snap kit but does have some nice features including a full interior.

Heres one I started a few weeks ago. It's going to be a basic working truck.

Dull aluminum, and a little weathering, No problems so far.

nice Al i was just wondering if i dull the chrome that's in this kit would that make it more real looking? as i know most pete's i see are shiny or dull looking chrome wise :D cause i want to go with a well worn look

The best advice I can give you is to go to a local truck stop and check out the trucks.

Try to do it middle of the week after some bad weather. You will see the true look of a working truck.

Not the sunny Friday after they just left the truck wash / polish shop.

ya good idea Al just wondering in your opinion would it look good if i dull all the chrome??

Even though you were asking Al, I'll give you my opinion. :) If you want an old weather beaten truck that has not seen a truck wash in years, I'd dull everything. If you want more of just a weathered but well taken care of look, with some sun faded paint and the "just driven the a rain or snow storm" look, I would still dull everything, but keep in mind that some parts may still have some shine to them. My experiences with trucks and the "rain or snow storm" shine varies with what the parts are made of. Usually on my rigs, I found the aluminum parts like the wheels and fuel tanks would dull much faster than the stainless steel parts like the bumper, grille surround (if it wasn't chrome plated plastic!), air cleaners, and stack guards. Of course, for some reason, the parts that seemed to stay the cleanest was the chrome plated plastic parts. A couple parts I would definitely watch with how you dull it would be the driver's door grab handle and the hood handle, which on the Pete 359 is the little V shaped handle on the top of the grille, especially if the truck is done as one still running the roads. Since these would see regular use on a driven truck, they would be the cleanest chrome parts. The driver's side step would also show some similar "shiny" wear.

Not a problem at all, Blake! I've been in, out, and even under trucks for the past 12 years, so I'm happy to share! :D

Thanks for posting those pics, Blake. I've been throwing around the idea of getting on even though it didn't have an engine, now I know my answer! I'll be interested to see finished, it looks like you have a good start already.

I had this kit decades ago. It was molded in a soft plastic which wouldn't accept any paint whatsoever. I'm so glad it's styrene this time around. I have this totally weird daymare of putting a scratchbuilt car transporter trailer behind it with seven or eight Lindberg 1/20 Gremlins on it. Gosh, the cost alone would nix the project.
