Is there an easy way to PM ? How is this done ?

If the member you want to PM has posted in the topic you're reading, click on his screen name (above the avatar)... that takes you to that member's profile page. On the upper left are a list of options, click on "send me a message."

How may I ask does one get the envelope under their name?

Check your profile set up to see if you've selected the right box that says you can receive/send PMs...or something to that effect!
