I would like to build a "what if" T/A racer out of one of the new gen Mustangs. I think I have just about everything sourced except for a suitable engine. Is there a fire-breathing Ford engine in some other kits that would be suitable for a TransAm racer?

Thanks,

The question is whether such a car would be carbed (doubtful) fuel injected or supercharged/turbocharged. If you choose carbed, I go with a Nascar kit. What you may want to do is combine the dry sump and maybe the headers from a Nascar kit to the stock motor and dechrome what's there. I'd either flat black or carbon fiber the valve covers.

I'd use the engine from the Shelby KR kit.

Thanks guys. Got just what I sought, y'alls advice. I like to get other opinions before I commit on something like this.

It might not be legal, but one of the 4 bangers outta one of the IMSA GTP Mustangs from the 80's would be different!
