Dose anyone make the condo roof for the freightliner FLD 120?

or was there one made.

Matt Burrnet of Monkey Claw models done one a few years ago. The master and mold were sold. When I bought out Rivers Edge Resins I got the old master part and the old mold for the condo roof. The master part is in almost if not unrepairable condition and the mold is pretty much shot as well. I have tried to pull a couple pieces form it but they are not very good and would have to have alot of clean up work and most were pretty thin in the top section of the casting due to the mold being tore up where it supports itself.

Doug, here are a few pics of probably the last roof to come from that mold that Porky did for me.

As you can see, it is just as Porky said, it requires a lot of clean up work. The portion that he said was thin due to the mold damamge was so thin you could see through it! It may be a little rough to see, but in this pic, there is a puddle of resin where the back wall and roof come together where more resin was added for support.

Now don't take me the wrong way, I by no means am bashing Porky's work here, I'm just backing up what he said about the condition. I even asked him permission before posting these pics! These were the first things I bought from him, and I have bought more since! He's my number 1 for truck parts. You'll be seeing these show up on my current build soon! Well, everything but the air cleaners, they are for another build!

Here they are mocked up on the truck.

You're welcome, Doug. Of course, I forgot, if worse comes to worse and Eric can't get another one from his mold for you, there is one other possiblity for you, even though you were asking about the FLD 120 and not a Classic XL.

This is a 1/32 scale New Ray diecast/plastic toy I found at a truckstop. I don't know if they did an FLD 120 also, but I've seen some of New Ray's things on ebay from time to time.

Of course, that is what I wanted mine for, so I could build a Classic XL like a couple I drove, I also got this from Eric for it.

Hello @ all,

With all these resin goodies and the re-release of the Freightliner FLC from ITALERI it would be nice to see again the condo sleeper roof coming out.

Please corect me, but I think (looking the kit preview @ ITALERI official site) that the kit conteins a 36'', the well known from the PETERBILT 378 #746 KIT bunk and not the 60'' low roof like the original issue!!!

Anyway I am going to hit some Freightliners for me so any resin goodies will be welcome!!

Kostas.

Bummer. I was hoping to try one of these. Well, if you ever do try again, I will snatch one up.

I might try to rework the master for the condo top when I get caught up a bit., if the re-issue kit has the 36 inch sleeper I guess you would have to strech the sleeper out to get the condo top on it.
