daniel gailloux Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Hello All I have built this model truck in a bit more than a week. It started as a built-up I puchased for the double 27 ft trailers (must have been 10-15 years ago). The truck was put in a zip lock bag mostly as spare parts for any White Freightliner build in the future. I was rummaging in the bag for parts and got the inspiration to build it. Nothing fancy here just using the parts in the bag and putting it back together and painting it. It will not have any mirrors none in the bag. So it will be a study in colors scheme. The cab is Painted Testord Boyds Lime Pearl. Chassis is Sublime Green. Diesel engine is Testors mix to match Cummins beige. Used Alclad chrome paint too. Also used for the first time Kirk rust powder and turned out very good. Changed the rims to Plaskit 2 hole bud rim make it a bit more like a fleet truck. The original truck kit had the wedge type braking system changed that to Plaskit S cam type braking system with backplate, booster detail set. Roof Freightliner marker lights from Plaskit. I aslo used resin cast U joints and fabricated new drive shaft. Here are a couple of photos of the truck. I will need you input. I have to put the air dam deflector on the roof to cover up previous builder glue marks on the plastic. However I do not know what color would work best for the deflector. Lime Pearl no way the color of the deflector would not match the one on the body. I was thinking of using the sublime green same as chassis but I do not think it would work out best. Anyway I will read your suggestions and see if I get the inspiration. Here is the link to my photobucket account: My link Best regards Daniel Gailloux
puffanhuff Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 See if you get the inspiration ! well you put much work in the painting like window edging, wheel lugs, trans, engine & no mirrors ! make them. Now if I was building this as a company truck with two trailers I would do the air deflector the same green as frame & add company name on it & on side of trailers I would add a square section of plastic painted same as tractor frame & air deflector with company name on it.Oh, your link...it wasn't posted!
puffanhuff Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 while you are trying to get the inspiration try finding the stick shift for your truck it's missing also
Kostas Parchas Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Very nice rig! I like the color the details here and there and of course the buds. Kostas.
