Hello All Here is an update of my Alaskan Hauler set back axle. This build would be what this truck would look like with a set back axle. This would also represent a more recent chassis. Hello All I have been working on an Kenworth Alaskan Hauler The truck is based on the AMT truck kit with some modifications. Front rims rear rims and front tires are Plaskit resin casting. The truck is a set back configuration. The double bunk sleeper is from the Kenworth W900 of Germany. Diesel engine is a resin cast detroit Series 60. Thank you for looking at the photos. Hello All I have been working on my International Fleetstar. Here is an update on this build. Still need to fit the cab to the chassis. Got a vacuformed windshield in today. First try too so glad I got it to fit right away. The pintle hook, gladhands on the rear chassis, 5 hole rims are from Plaskit. I decided to put a Detroit 6-71N as diesel engine as powerplant. This build is mostly from my parts box. The color is gloss black for the chassis and Boyds dark red for the body. Rims are painted white. Hello All Some changes in my live not bad just different, not modelling as much still building trucks. A slowdown in modelling, with the economy not helping $$ are less there. Anyway got this project started in 2012. A International Fleetstar. A casting from AITM Dave Natale. A fun build. Used the parts box as source. Did not want to used new kit as a challenge. Getting ready to paint the cab decided to take pictures this morning before it canges color and still being in the rough. Rims are new offering from Plaskit resin truck parts. 5 hole, hub are molded separately. Color will be be cab + dump body Modelmaster Boyds Red a dark red. Chassis will be gloss black. The purple stuff will remove all putty you have done on the body. If you have use acrylic paint you can use windex to remove the paint as the amonia removes acrylic paint and windex does not affect any putty. Hope this helps. Daniel Gailloux

Hello If you look on the side of the box it is mentioned that the kit has torsion bar. The other issues also state that the kit has hendrickson suspension. Another clue if the logo has AMT/ERTL on the front cover of the box it is definitely not a torsion bar kit. Hope this helps. Daniel Gailloux

Hello Johnny I offer sets of 2 hole bud rims for trucks and trailers. These are 22 inch rims that will fit AMT tires with 22 inches marked on their side walls or the ERTL 20 inch Goodyear are the best fit for these rims. Hello All I have completed my build of the Alaska Mack Lab truck. Just uploaded last 16 photos to my photobucket account of this build. I did enjoy building this project mostly ad lib. Got to try new building materials new ideas done things I have not done before. Used 7 bottles of Testors Pacific blue a first for me in a single build all airbrushed. Nothing from this build will end up as new resin cast items in my catalogue but that was not the goal. This project is heavy and big. Just under 25 inches long 5 inches wide do not have a scale to weight it. Also it is my first project documented on m y Photbucket account from the very start. You get to see this project take shape during the 2 year span. It is not a perfect build it was not the goal but good enough to get excellent results. I must say that I did not encounter much difficulty for this size project as I was building I was anticipating future steps. It is not a replica of any real truck so I did not have to match anything so my imagination was used during construction. Hello Doug The mixer portion of this truck is cratchbuilt from styrene plastic sheets. All that is painted grey is scratchbuilt except for the water tank that is a modified diesel fuel tank from Revell Peterbilt kit. When in trade school I was taught drafting and in the course we had sheet metal drafting for ventilation ducts and others sheet metal parts. All I did was to put in application the drafting course with sheet styrene and glue it all to make the drum this is why you cannot identify any ressemblance to any concrete mixer kits. The rear drum support is also scratchbuilt using sheet styrene however it is based on the ERTL concrete mixer. The front drum support is fabricated from observation from the real concrete mixer truck. This is a reproduction of the London concrete mixer. Thank you for the interest. Daniel Gailloux

I have put more than 400 hours in this project. I did not find it that difficult you need to be patient. I was very fortunate at the time that I built this truck they were parked outside with no fence, along side the street so I would go almost every day to see the truck (after working hours) and see the specific detail I was working on at that time on the real truck for an accurate build. Today these truck are looked inside a fence with no access. Another lucky break, I got from Mack a specification sheet with all major dimensions on it. Thank you for the intrest in my project. Hello Jim I offer 2 conversion kits. The one shown in previous post will work with the AMT Kenworth W900 or the Revell of Gemany W900. The second conversion I offer is a different hood all together and is a different master. This one will work with the AMT / ERTL Kenworth T600. This is the link to my photobucket showing the second Kenworth T800 conversion. This conversion has less parts as it uses more of the Kenworth plastic model kit. Hope this helps. Hello All ON November 21 I attended the Fulton N.Y. model car contest. Unfortunately I forgot to check the batteries in my camera so I had limited charge so I did not take all the photos I could of. Hello Clayton In Canada we had Lepages styrene glue for models. Unfortunately many were sniffing it and the manufacturer stop producing it. To me this is the best glue for styrene plastic. On my part Testors in the orange tube does not work for me. Surching for an alternative trying to find a new supplier came across Humbrol that was working fine but cannot find it anywhere I only had the one tube. Many years ago I had purchase a tube of Elmers Model and hobby on a trip to a show in the U.S. Having it I was very sceptic about using it. When My tube of glue was empty I decided to open the tube of Elmers. Turns out this is really good glue. I quick view from Elmers web site confirmed they still manufacture the glue. Off to find store(s) where they stock this glue. There are many stores that stock this glue, The first store I found was Wallmart and had a new product sticker. Hello Barry This is an excellent idea. The promotion of our hobby is best done trough our schools. Teaching our youth the patience of building models, using their imagination in preparing models when they think outside the box, and devellop manual skills. However I would suggest that the format be not a contest but more and model show having the public judge the models presented. Having a show format brings all the modellers to a friendly meet and is much more open to discussion between modellers and the best way to share building tips and techniques. Contest on the other end, will less open to conversations as one will try to keep secret certain tips and technique from others in order to keep the edge he has develloped as he has the better model. Mind you not all modellers are like this but I did see this at model contests. This is my experience of 20 years attending model shows and contests. Hope this helps. Daniel Gailloux

That depends a lot on your modellling skills. For sure for $ 20.00 you get the conversion kit and presto you have your truck. If you can work the kit into the Giant you will get the satisfaction that you have done a real cool conversion. Having the fenders molded separately helps a lot for the conversion of your truck. Even if you get the resin conversion you will still need to modify the front suspension on the truck kit. Hope this helps Daniel Gailloux

Hello Dave Yes it is a big project. Overall lenght is 25 inches that makes it 100 foot long in real life. Even for me it is a very different project. I got to use all my building talent to pull this off. I got to try new materials, new ideas and solve problems building such a truck. It will take quite a while before I tackle such a big project.
