Nate Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Ok, so the new pony cars are out and they're all pretty awesome. I have seen a few Camaros (Camaroes? ) and Challengers with flat or satin black stripes or graphics. My question is; how do you accomplish this when masking and painting, as opposed to using decals? Do you paint the main color, clear and polish it, then mask and paint the satin/flat or vice versa or some other way? Am I over-thinking this?
mediamonk Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I'd probably spray the satin black over the clear. Thinking outside the box (for me), what if you painted the whole thing gloss, masked off the stripes, cleared, reverse the masking and spray with a satin clear. My 2 cents, ymmv.
Dragline Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 As you said. Paint the stripes after all the clear coating and painting is done. Bob
MikeMc Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) Gotta agree with Stephen and Bob....I use Tamiya TS6......The hood was done that way. Edited July 23, 2010 by MikeMc
