So, I drove almost an hour to a LHS I've never been to before. I called and asked if they had a pretty good selection of plastic. He said he did, and his selection included everything. Got there and there were about 8 cars/trucks, 20-30 aviation models, and some space stuff. I wasn't impressed, however he can get whatever I want...so i suppose that's good.

Anyways, figured that since I just drove an hour in 100 degree temps, with my wife and 7 month old son in an over-engineered mid 90's German luxo/panzer'esque station wagon with over 300k on the odometer that I shouldn't go home empty handed.

With that decision I picked up my first Aviation model in 20 years; a 1/48th AH64 "War On Terrorism- Apache" made by Hobby Craft. The 1:1 Apache, nick named "GOD" by a few of us in the circles I run in, is one of my favorite military aircraft. Was a no brainer that I pick up this kit.

Upon opening it, I was relieved that it wasn't molded in black but instead an off white/gray color. Didn't really matter anyways since I planned on spraying it flat black as soon as I got home anyways. There is quite a bit of flashing to deal with, but very few ejection pin marks that can be seen. I'm impressed.

I gotta say, I hate all the little pieces this thing has. It easily has close to 75, if not 100 pieces. My "OLD" (ok, i'm not old, my hands are) hands are hardly steady enough to place some of them, in fact my wife has had to place a couple of them for me already!

Anyways, just thought I'd share...in case anyone was into aircraft (I'm not) and had yet to pop open a Hobby Craft AH64.

Wish my luck,

Doc
