I too would be interested in a set of P-slots. Was going to try converting the sewer lid porsche wheels, but if your guy will sell em...heck that'd save me a lot of hassle. Love the Mk1's...

wheels look to be those from the Alumacoupe kit.... Nice looking build. Love the color.

The Milner (Paul LeMat)coupe plate? Anyone that's a fan of the movie (I have been, since I was about 6 and first watched it) knows that plate number. THX 138. The dragster was from the somewhat obscure sequel. The 58 Impala mentioned above was "owned" by Steve Bolander (Ron Howard.) The 55 used in the movie, and driven by Harrison Ford was also the same car later used in Two Lane Blacktop as most of you know. Suzanne Sommers was gorgeous in that movie...Makenzie Phillips not so much. The "main" Pharaoh was Jerry Reed, later known as "The Snowman" in the Bandit movies. In my opinion, it's the best Lucas film ever. -
I would LIKE to think of myself as a Empi wheel (and accessory, as well as other aircooled wheel) expert. Those are DEF. not Empi. As far as der wagen, it's a poor kit over all, however the body is decent if you're into the 1303's...which to me look best tucking a set of modern 17" P-car wheels under the fender wells and a injected/turbocharged Type IV tucked under the decklid.

That front seat would be an AWESOME piece to re-pop in resin. I can see using one of those in a rat rod 32... I'm just sayin.

I prefer the later CTs myself. This one was pretty easy for me, surprisingly enough. FWIW: Would love to see a later one kitted. I can see a protouring styled ride w/ a GT2 spec lump.

Help with reference photos
DocLong replied to Drago's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Go to Richies website, should be plenty of pics there. As well, if there is a phone number don't hesitate to call (DSR.) The guys at Don Shumacher Racing are exceptional when it comes to PR. There is a decent chance they will go out and take some pics for you. I got some pictures from one of Tonys cars a few years back this way. Now would prolly be the best time to call since they just finished up at Brainerd, and are more than likely back in Brownsburg prepping for Indy. shoeracing.com (I think) as that SHOULD be their site. Might be able to request info/pics of some of DSR's other cars as well. Good Luck. Doc -
I think what Brandon is getting at is this is a "easy" way to add accessory gauges under the dash. HOWEVER, I always use the flat stock that is on most parts trees, sanded into shape with decals applied. Much easier, more sturdy, and the thickness is *a little* closer to 1:1.

Forget a spare (or go with the porsche mini-spare.) Put an oil cooled and some ducting up there!

62 Buick Electra 225 for the BCAS 'same kit' build.

If I didnt like the 60' top so much I'd send you a 62' top I'm partially kidding. PM me more about this BCAS...please. Thanks bro. Doc -
What is with all of the AKAs now??
DocLong replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've noticed it too...kinda strange if I do say so myself. Mine is more of a term of endearment given to me years ago. I don't know why but they tell me it comes with the job. Drew, I can't help but associate your last name, and user name with Dean...any relation? -
I'm cheap (broke), made my own "metalizer."
DocLong replied to DocLong's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Next time I'm home (huber) I'll show it to ya hah. Are there any REAL hobby shops around Dayton anymore? Last one I remember was Kemper down on Woodman and Dorthy... -
Decals don't look like they would be terribly hard to reproduce... I think it still looks awesome.

Need to build spacers to push the rear outter rim to where it needs to be, need to sand the tires, need to clear then wet sand and polish as well. Chassis is a slightly modded DD Fiat, as is engine (V/C's from Big John kit I THINK.) Body is the revell 5 window coupe w/ the SWC/Big John rear "tub" trimmed to fit. Front axle is from the 32 ford kit, as are the hair pins. Not sure what the rear axle is from, but I think it was the big john kit. First one finished in 10+ years.

reminds me of one of my favorite VW's. The 96 Golf "Harlequin." Neat concept/build.

I'm working on an mid 60's altered and hated the chrome wheels (from the SWC/Big John Willys)on the car since it's kind of a crude-ish garage built race car. Being a single income household and having a late model 2009 Baby Boy GT (fully loaded no less) to keep running, I'm really limited on what I can spend on plastic and supplies. For paint I always use Krylon for colors ($2.24 a can) and the really cheap flat/semi gloss blacks ($0.97 a can.) I could afford some of the testors and tamiya paints, but can't justify buying a little can for more than I'd lay out for a big can. I also don't have an airbrush, and more than likely never will unless I "pick one up" to "use on our tools" while I'm at work next time (ever spray paint in your kids sand box?) That being said, I don't use the metalizers that seem so popular here...but have kinda been wanting to. This brought me to aisle X of my local wal-mart, the spray paint aisle. Picked up Krylon "smoke grey" and the Krylon "Brilliant Silver (chrome.") I tested it one some spare parts box wheels and LOVED it. Here's the method. I did it over chrome because for some reason I've been having bad luck with bleach to strip chrome. Some of my DD chrome has been in there almost a week and only one side is stripped! I'm ADHD like crazy, as well as being a "instant gratification modeler" so I didn't want to wait around to strip these anyways. I started with a very light coat of "smoke grey" followed about 5 minutes later by a fairly heavy coat. While the smoke grey is still wet I dusted with the "brilliant silver" and ta-da, metalizer for less than $5, and enough of it to do two whole kits if you wanted to! I'm working on pics, but alas, I'm having trouble getting Photoyuckit to accept my photos. Just thought I'd share (my life story?) my experiences.

AWESOME.... Might I suggest removing the lock cylinders on the rear doors...would look more OEM I think. I'll be watching this one. -
So, I drove almost an hour to a LHS I've never been to before. I called and asked if they had a pretty good selection of plastic. He said he did, and his selection included everything. Got there and there were about 8 cars/trucks, 20-30 aviation models, and some space stuff. I wasn't impressed, however he can get whatever I want...so i suppose that's good. Anyways, figured that since I just drove an hour in 100 degree temps, with my wife and 7 month old son in an over-engineered mid 90's German luxo/panzer'esque station wagon with over 300k on the odometer that I shouldn't go home empty handed. With that decision I picked up my first Aviation model in 20 years; a 1/48th AH64 "War On Terrorism- Apache" made by Hobby Craft. The 1:1 Apache, nick named "GOD" by a few of us in the circles I run in, is one of my favorite military aircraft. Was a no brainer that I pick up this kit. Upon opening it, I was relieved that it wasn't molded in black but instead an off white/gray color. Didn't really matter anyways since I planned on spraying it flat black as soon as I got home anyways. There is quite a bit of flashing to deal with, but very few ejection pin marks that can be seen. I'm impressed. I gotta say, I hate all the little pieces this thing has. It easily has close to 75, if not 100 pieces. My "OLD" (ok, i'm not old, my hands are) hands are hardly steady enough to place some of them, in fact my wife has had to place a couple of them for me already! Anyways, just thought I'd share...in case anyone was into aircraft (I'm not) and had yet to pop open a Hobby Craft AH64. Wish my luck, Doc

Picked some of this stuff up to aid in getting the body right on a 53 Chevy I'm working on (Sectioning.) Stuff works AWESOME. put it on with my finger, wait 20 minutes and sand to desired shape...apply more...wait...sand....etc LOVE IT.

This LHS does more R/C car/plane stuff than anything else. He's got about 400 or so kits, about 100 of those being Nascar stuff. He still has the two car kits from years ago (the pepsi/mtn. dew for example.) Most of his non nascar stuff is newer, say 5 years old or newer.

Wow, that's some tech info! I read this and went down to my LHS, which is always DEAD... Went in with my sealed Revell Budweiser car and walked out with the Country Time Bobby Hamilton Olds. Thanks for all the help. NOW...I need to figure out how I'm going to get this stuff to go under a FINISHED Nova body....ugh.
