Hellava Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I'm really hoping that the highlighted parts in this attached picture are from an old truck kit. If it is a truck kit, it would have had to have been available 30 years ago. The parts are all around 5-15 mmm in size. Any help would greatly appreciated. What are these parts?
george 53 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Kevin, they LOOK like they mightbe compressors of some kind attached to the engine block. They DON'T look like actual SEPARATE peices, more like they are cast into the side of the block already. There's ALOT of truck guys here that can hopefully give ya a more complete answer!
SpreadAxle Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 The turquoise colored piece appears to be an air cleaner. The green part looks like it could be a power divider/differential off of a front drive axle. Or at least 1/2 of one. the purple part has the look of a battery box cover or even a fuel tank with a step cut into it. The brown part is either a starter or an oil filter. Not sure about the others. I hope I'm at least close. Looks like random parts used to get shapes on a much larger model. I read somewhere that model truck parts were added in studio to the model of one of the large spaceships from Star Wars just for random shapes on the exterior.
Hellava Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks FlatbedKW.... you're on the right track. Yes these are all very likely to be seperate pieces that have been used to detail a larger model. I need help to figure out which truck kit they came from so that I can recreate the same detail on a build I intend to start. Any help at all would be really appreciated.
