Madd Trucker Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 What color would the enginge be in the Revel Pete kits
highway Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I know most of the guys here have said before to be 100% prototypically correct, Peterbilt engines, up to the early 80s, were all painted white, regardless of the engine manufacture. Of course, though, if you want to build it like a rebuilt or second engine, Cat yellow would be correct for the Revell snap 359 and Cummins beige would be correct for Revell of Germany's 359 kit.
mackinac359 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Not all were white. The majority were white. Looking at the 70's price book I can't find anyplace where there was a published option to have the engine in engine-builder color rather than white. None of the 'old timers' can recall any rhyme or reason for non-white engine installs until the early 80's. This will always be one of the great mysteries ! White Engine Tim
chuckyr Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Tim, you come up with the darnist information! Where in the heck did you find that Peterbilt ad? Have you come across any 1950 to early 1970 Revell catalogers?
Old Albion Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 This was the thread that Aaron started reference Engine colours: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2453&hl=engine colours&st=0 Tim any chance we could have this pinned at the top? Dave
SpreadAxle Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Tim that's a really cool page on your site. Great detail shots.
