MILD Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Gentlemen- I am in the middle of applying my decals and now have a question. I want to poke a pin through the locating holes for the armrests etc which will punch through the upholstery decals. Should I do this before or after applying the Mr Mark Softer? Thanks in advance. george 53 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Uhhhh,Mick, what IS "Mr.Mark Softer", and will MRS. Mark Softer even LET ya DO IT???
Agent G Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 If it were me, I'd either poke the hole before applying the Mr Mark Softer, or well after it's been applied and allowed to dry. When the solution is working it's magic on the decals I would worry you run the risk of doing more harm than good. My experience has been that MMS melts the decal so well it would be hard not to damage/ruin it while the decal was softened. MMS is quite aggressive, it's best to poke the holes either before or wait till after. That way you could just dab a bit on the area of the hole. G

MILD Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) Uhhhh,Mick, what IS "Mr.Mark Softer", and will MRS. Mark Softer even LET ya DO IT??? Shouldn't that be 'WHO'? Thanks to all who replied- I gave it a crack after it had dried and while it didn't damage the decal any more than was intended, it did lift it slightly so I will reapply to sit it back down. I think I am doing something wrong with the product as it really doesn't seem as aggressive as stated. I was using a make up remover (gotta love the wife's supply draw) to apply downward pressure after applying and I think it maybe didn't have enough time to get to work before it soaked up. I didn't notice any wrinkling as I had read about either. Edited August 3, 2010 by MILD
MILD Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 According to the Engrish scrawled on the label it's decal 'softer'
Agent G Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Oh numbah ten, vebby vebby bad. No usee the makeup brush. Leave the stuff on for a bit and watch it wrinkle the decal. As it dries the decal will conform well to the surface. Once any decal setting solution is on I try not to touch anything until the next day. Solvaset is actually more aggressive, Micro Sol less so. 935k3 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Forget the softener. Try a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal, it will set instsantly with no bubbles or wrinkles.
