evilone Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Ok heres the story. I bought the repop revell ford f-250 pick-up awhile back.I opened like a little kid at X-mas time (come on who could blame me this kit has a diesel )it up to start working on it. The first thing i did was cut all the engine parts off the trees and i almost wet myself the block looks like a diesel .And then came the last parts. Wait theres a throttle body? A distributor? and a crazy unbelievable intake? When the hell did a diesel have a distributor,a throttle body, and a non functional intake . So i read the little caption that talks about how cool the truck is (i know this already) then BOOM 7.5L gasoline engine (OMG its like im the dude that was in the twilight zone all the books he wanted but no glasses to read them ).So i look at the kit and everything looks like the diesel options on the 1:1 trucks . WTF is going on here they got my dreams up and for this NO DIESEL.So my question is how can i turn this fictional motor into a diesel? what would be the best route to go?
highway Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I know exactly what you mean! I have a 1:1 1990 F350 and the old dually kit, and I have the same problem. If you need some reference pics to help out, let me know. That will give me an excuse to take the pics I need! This is what the basic look of the older 7.3 looks like. By the way, don't mind the grease!

And a 20 year old diesel at that! She lived a hard working life before coming to me, she was an old wrecker before becoming the truck she is now. I will get some pic taken by the end of the weekend and post them not only here but in my 1:1 Truck Reference thread in the Model Trucks section. Here's a link to it, the pics are mostly drivetrain right now because when the F250 was first reissued earlier, there was some builders wanting to do a 4X4 conversion. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30068

I dunno bout converting it to diesel but the engine in the kit aint fictional ...... Its a Ford 7.5 which is a 460 I believe it's the biggest gas engine in the trucks possibly in the Ford line And a search of pics might show ya just how functional that intake was also

I don't really think the question is about the look of the 7.5 Liter in the kit, it's more about making the engine a diesel. In the case of evilone, it sounds like he obviously wants it to be a diesel, and in the case of the model of my 1:1 dually, it has to be a diesel. By the way, Tim, you might be able to settle something I've been wanting to know for a while. How is the fuel mileage in your F350 with the gas engine?
