Guest snapper Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 This one has come a long way, but I finally managed to finish it up. I went with Pontiac engine blue thinking that might have been the only color available. I wanted to show off some of the metal that was underneath somehow, because it was just too neat to paint over all the way. I don't know what else to really say about it. I may decide to dust and weather it with some powder chalk once I can get around to finding and buying some. I appreciate any comments or feedback. Thanks, Colby
Guest snapper Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) I'm going to tag on another forum member's comment about "no comments", but any feedback would be appreciated - I can take it . I know this is die cast, but other than the body, it was pretty much all plastic. With that in mind, there is one thing in particular I would like to know - I'm not happy with the black "grime" wash and without possibly finishing it up with a dirt weathering and pastel chalk job - am I on track with this thinking? I was even hesitating as to calling this "finished". Any suggestions on how I might improve the final look? Edited August 17, 2010 by snapper
brett Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 While I am also very aware of the getting little to no comments deal (good or bad I suffer too, lol), ya gotta give it a little time bro, lots of people only check in every couple of days. Right that been said, I like what you've done with this,I think the patch panels look great. One thing probably the only thing I would do if it were mine is dirty it up a little, (presuming this is a dirt car, I know nothing about roundy round cars).
Scale-Master Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 As a Hot Wheels customizer myself, I can see the work you put into that. It is a tough sell to pull off what you did in a small scale and post it with "full-size" models. You may have fooled some into thinking it is larger than it really is. If so, good job.
evilone Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Dang this is cool that amount of detail is crazy being how small it is. Very nice job
Railfreak78 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I've been following this build and sorry it took a bit to see it under glass I don't get to this section often for some reason. I like the way it came out and nice way to make the patch panels and such like you would see on a local car. If it's dirt track car I would agree to make it a bit more dirty. Other than that I do like the grime. Maybe add a windshield mesh screen like I would see at a local dirt track. This build made me want to do my Chevelle wagon that I need to finish so I really like it
W-409 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 This looks good, I have now a Hot Wheels project, it's a fast try but I think it's not the last one from me... Your one is good looking as I said, that sheet metal without paint looks good!
Guest snapper Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the feedback and tips. I will definitely dirty it up some more and add a windshield screen. I thought of that at one time, but I completely forgot during the rest of the build. Thank you again. Scale-Master - That is a good point about the scale and sell. I do have one photo of my thumb here, but in the end, I decided just to stick with close pics without reference and no interior pics (just in my WIP). I notice another builder, Niko, just posted a Hot Wheels Charger - he has some camera angles on his that look pretty convincing for full 1/25 scale. Edited August 20, 2010 by snapper
