impcon Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I really like the '60-66 Chevy pickups but unlike some ( most, it seems?? ) people, I prefer the look of a long wheel base fleetside to the shortbox. Looking on Ebay at the prices of promos and old kits, I have to wonder why no one is reissuing a long wheel base version of those trucks or a GMC conversion kit- or even just an 8' fleetside box and tailgate?? Just a thought...
george 53 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Gary, you MIGHT try the Modelhaus for that. If I remember correctly(which IS a long shot) i THINK he used to carry one in his catalog. It's been a long time since I've seen one though, but it might be listed on his website. An i KNOW it'll be nice caz it's one of his castings!!! Good Luck!!!

I already checked and they don't make it ( anymore? ) and apparently neither does anyone else. The long box just looks so much niocer to me and again, judging by what promos and old kits seem to sell for, I am not alone in that preference. An entire resin kit would even be nice but there is nothing available that I can find. I bought an AMT '60 Chevy truck kit ( not the one that is blue on the box = the older two tone box top version ) thinking it was a long wheel base but of course, it's a short box. You can't really tell on the box pictures - it almost looks like a long box but it is really a short box. Guess I'll have to start hunting down some old beater annuals.. *sighs*
george 53 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Gare, the ONLY other caster I can think of that MIGHT have one is RMR resin casters. I have them in my favorites so I don't hafta keep lookin it up. Anybody out there gotta link to RMR?
george 53 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I hope I got it right,Gary, here it is. http://www.freewebs.com/rmrresin/nf125.htm Hope they got one for ya!

Close but no cigar, George! they have a crew cab but it is the cab and frame only.. and it looks like it is made for the short box. There was a long box version of the crew cab available back then too - my son has a '65 GMC 3/4 ton three door crew cab sitting here.. I want several of those boxes and building a crew cab is one project that I have in mind. I am not partial to those trucks in a short box - they just don't look right to me as the longer box really suits the cab design and with the deluxe side trim - they sure do look nice!!! I'm amazed that no one has offered such a thing as an eight foot bed for one of those trucks especially given the four kits that are so readily available out there to do a conversion. Maybe that style of trucks are not as popular as I thought.. that's why Revell and AMT have released them...
