Jon Cole Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I plan on building a custom that will have frenched antennas. I have the standard 1/16" and 1/32" K&S aluminum tubing (for recessed mounts), and I also have two diff size wire, a .70 and another I cannot recall the size. I need metal tubing thin enough for the lower parts of an automotive antenna. I have some hypodermic needles. Is that stainless hypo tubing available anywhere via mail order? Also I wonder if a local medical supply house could help me? Thanks!
charlie8575 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Jon, I don't know what you have way up north, but you might be able to find something like that at a good hospital pharmacy. If worst comes to worst, you can always try Bouvier's here in Marlborough, Ma. They're a very full-line hospital equipment dealer and dispensary. Contact them here Charlie Larkin
envious8420 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 also, if you know any firemen or emts they could get a couple for you if you ask nice.
MikeMc Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Jon go to your local pharmacy...not the chain. Tell them what you need and why. Many times they will sell them to you with ID. I bought them for my old business along with the syringes as I used them in my legit business!!
Jon Cole Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Thanks all! Especially Charlie! I love those "way up north" comments!!! Yep, the ice finally went out of the lakes last week! BTW, I am just a quick 1/2 hour from the Mass border. In fact, I love Mass, it's my home state. In less than an hour I can "Pahk the cah" and take the T from Fitchburg to Boston! I will start looking for stainless tubing at a local medical supply, and see how that goes. Even if they have it, I know they will ask "What size?" And I am, well, metric challenged. Aw heck, I'm numbers challenged! As in "too-pid!" It was difficult to learn in school, when I had to keep an eye on who Sister Mary Left Hook was stalking next! I guess I will bring a piece of 3/32 aluminum tube, and tell them it has to fit in this, like a scale car antenna. Below is an actual staff photo from my elementary school... Gee, I always thought you were up more towards Berlin/Colebrook. So you are nearer to civilization than I thought! Quick rule of thumb: 1 milimetre= about 1/32". Charlie Larkin Edited September 3, 2010 by charlie8575
Jon Cole Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 I have exhausted any possible sources for thin hollow tube... thin enough for antenna. Thinner than K&N stocks. Anyone know of an on-line source? This project is in limbo until I locate tubing.
