stewart Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I have completed the first of what I am hoping will be the complete series of american muscle cars in the fast and furious movies. However, it might end up being just my favorites (mostly mopars ) This is the 67 chevy. I scratchbuilt almost everything behind the cab including making my own tires from two kit ones, making the airbags, the frame, the propane tank, and the air compressor. For the cab, I started out using the AMT 72 chevy truck kit and bought a 67 grille from modelhaus. However, the grille did not fit and would have required extensive modifications to fit. I therefore put off doing it. Then, as I was browsing the internet, I found a model on a forum of a 67 chevy. The builder had bought the truck kit from RMR resin. So I was able to get the cab. After filing off the trim and some other misc. cleanup, I painted it in Testors flaming orange. The interior has a bench seat and I had to make a whole knew transmission tunnel for the fuller 13-speed of a semi truck. It has a full size truck shifter and a truck steering wheel. The engine is a one-off inline 6 twin turbo intercooled diesel. I made it myself from scratch. I am now in the process of making an actual dimensions 6.7 cummins for a friend.
RodneyBad Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Awesome looking truck ya built. Engine came out looking perty good. Nice flatbed, suspension and air tanks. Paint looks great. nice interior. Looks to me that fits the bill perfectly.. Great job..
highway Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Looks very nice, Stewart! How is the other one coming?
stewart Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 I am still waiting for alan to finish my wheels so I can finish it. I have to wait for the wheels because they will make it much easier to complete the final assembly. Once they get here, I need to place the engine and chassis in, install the axles and drive shafts, and complete the flat bed. Then that is it. Hopefully it will be as easy as it sounds STewart
cobra98 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Great looking truck!!! look forward to seeing the others completed
kylexgore Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 that is the sweetest flatbed ive seen. nice job.
