As a model guy who lives in an area where my kind are few and far between, I really want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for contributing and participating. I think that we can take things like having a website like this and the people - ALL of the people who make it up, for granted and just assume that this is just how things are. Maybe I am just rambling here but I truly want to express my gratitude and appreciation to those who share their self taught and learned building techniques and their knowledge with those less experienced and learned. George53, Brian and the others who have stepped out and helped and advissed and encouraged me personallyt - thank you one and all. And to the people who moderate and maintain the site and law and order here - thank you for a job well done - even when we may not personally agree with some new rule. You are the people who have built and make this machine and we, the members, are the fuel that make it all function and run.

It's just nice to have someplace like this to come to where there is selflessness and encouragement and a real shortage of something that is far too prevalent in today's society - condemnation and ridicule. Someone started a thread awhile ago and suggested that perhaps some are too free with praise regarding the efforts and attempts of others. In my ever to be humble opinion, all that matters is that the person tried their best and for that, he/she deserves priase and encouragement and there is LOTS of that here! There are also those who tell it like it is - straight up and honest - and I appreciate that a lot. So thanks for reading my babble and build in health and prosper. Gary :o:):)

I dunno maybe it's just me, But this thread seems to have a little bit of a sarcastic flavor to it. With all the craziness that's going here lately, this thread made me chuckle a little

I know you mean well, and I appreciate you taking the time to post this, but it did put a bit of a grin on my face.

I can assure you that sarcasim or criticism is the last thing on my mind - I wrote what I feel in my heart - I for one am grateful to have a site like this and to have met the people that I have met here.. if it pout a smile on your face then I guess that isn't a terrible thing either - is it? Let's appreciate what we have - try to improve what we don't like and just be thankful is all I am saying. I mean no ill will to anyone. :o:):)

It's a good post...I like what you said.

I guess with what's happened here lately, I was reading this topic with a different frame of mind....It was just kind of humerous to me at the time...

Good post though.....Jeff

Thanks for posting this Gary. I know what it's like to live far away from anybody that shares my interest in models. The nearest hobby shop is in Anchorage. It's forums like this, and the good people that are on them, that help me to "escape" this island, if even for a few minutes. I've been lucky to find some other "blues jammers" here, but if there are modelers, they aren't coming out of the woodwork. I want to join with Gary, and second his thanks to all that keep us "lost modelers" entertained, inspired, and uplifted.

 Early Thanksgiving?

I'll join in by saying, THANKS!! This is a word with not near enough letters for our meaning.

I've been very lucky that my daughter has joined in building with me about 4 years ago. She's 14 now and still interested.

This board is the LINK to our modeling bench partners.

Gary, that was indeed, well said. If I were a sociologist, I'd call today's prevalent attitude a "Culture of Nastiness." I'm sure that someone has written a paper or book about it.

I also find this place a haven from life's usual stresses, and a learning center. The talent pool here is awesome, and the advice freely given is welcomed. I'll add my thanks to all, too!
