So while I am finishing up the layout of the suspension on Project Snoball, and while waiting for decals and clear to cure on my Chadwick Camaro Funny, and during the gathering of reference and parts for my HEMI Dart factory build, I started another build.....

I wanted to build a street worthy competitor, something you may have seen in the late 60's or early 70's at some point.

So I wanted to fit a bigger than stock tire under the car with out going the whole pro street route with big silly tubbs and all....

Picture101.jpg

So I took an old resin back half that I had doing nothing and cut the tubs free from it, and added them to the 67's Chassis.

This way I could use the slicks and and rear end from the HEMI Dart kit....

Next I decided that I may need a bit more oil capacity on a street racing HEMI so, I extended the sump on the stock oil pan like a lot of the junior stockers used to do...

So there is where I am at, I have since mounted the leaf springs, after moving them inboard. I alsoe used the DANA from the HEMI dart kit and hope to have it installed soon...

As always, questions, comments and critiques welcome.

Len are ya gonna hafta mod the interior to fit the tubs? I think them big ol tires look alot better when the interior isn't chopped up. Looks good so far!:D:angry::D

George,

The modifications to the interior wont be noticed, I only had to shave the bottom of the pacakge shelf, and if I was more careful, I would not have even broken through. I took a thin sheet of styrene, and made a new floor. Anyone will be ahrd pressed to notice, with the flocking and paint on it...Well, back to the bench....

Small suggestion for detail...before you install your rear suspension...sand away the Revell and China lettering...

Terry,

thanks for the mention, however, I normally don't really sweat those details unless I plan on showing the car somwhere other than on the web or in my display case. Also, once the axel is installed and mounted to the leaf springs, you don't even see it.

Thanks again,

any updates?

Dave

Funny you should ask, I took a couple quick pics last night...

Picture119.jpg

Started doing some of the preliminary paint detailing on the engine. Drilled the plug holes in the rocker covers for some rubber boots. First coats of paint on the oil filter and the fuel pump. Forgot to drill the pump for a fuel line prior to painting...

Picture114.jpg

Also got some of the chassis / floor pan work comepleted, too...It is difficult to tell in the pic, but I have two different semi gloss blacks on the K-Memeber and subframe to add a little visual interest. Also detailed the tie rods and torsion abrs with two seperate shades of metalizers. Still need to ass some more lite weathering and a maybe some lite rust.

Picture115.jpg

Last but not least, here is the DANA rear end from the HEMI Dart kit installed in the Charger chassis, along with the "mini-tubs" I added.

I also started the interior door panels and flocking the floor. I have a lot of little things getting in my way on this build, for example my Aztek airbrush finally took a dump, after upteen years, so I need to send it back and have it repaired. On top pf that, I am waiting for a couple parts too...

Been a fun build so far....

As usual, questions, comments and critiques always welcome.....
