Harry P. Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I love the manila envelope "leather" straps. Clever.
Chuck Most Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 Finished up the basic chassis last night- there are still a few widgets and doo-dads to add, but this is bascially it- I also cobbled up a bench seat from scraps of styrene sheet-
Harry P. Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Explain to me how that rear spring is going to work...
Chuck Most Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 Explain to me how that rear spring is going to work... Poorly. Quite poorly, indeed...
Harry P. Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Creative you are, no doubt. An engineer? Uh, not so much...
Modelmartin Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Explain to me how that rear spring is going to work... Details!!!
Alyn Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 That is one mighty fine lookin' gas tank Chuck! Your practive in the world of grunge and grime is really paying off.
Chuck Most Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Surprised nobody's asked about the front suspenion...
Ryan S. Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Surprised nobody's asked about the front suspenion... Is is suspended or "welded solid" to the frame? Either way this thing would make for one rough ride. But a cool ride at the same time
Modelmartin Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Surprised nobody's asked about the front suspenion... Perhaps no one commented on it because there is none?
Chuck Most Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Other than the inherent 'springy-ness' of the I-beam axle, there's no spring at all! At least not at the moment!
Chuck Most Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 The latest updates... I made up a dash from diamond plate, and also a rear frame crossmember/spring cover, both adorned with Ma's Resin bolt heads. I also drilled out some bullet holes in the body... Try loading a 1:25 scale gun one of these days... you talk about a pain in the hiney!!!! And, well, did some other stuff... I added real, 1:1 window screen from a real, 1:1 scale screen door (stretched a bit to make the pattern more diamond shape than square), added some rust to the bullet wounds, and slapped on the ex-con rod/current pitman arm, which was scratchbuilt from styrene and some more of Ma's Resin's bolt heads.
John Teresi Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Chuck......you sure did and EXCELLENT job on the weathering........AWESOME man.
Chuck Most Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Chuck......you sure did and EXCELLENT job on the weathering........AWESOME man. The weathering isn't even done yet. I'm also considering leaving the graphics off the car, or replacing them with something a little more forum-friendly than the original doodlings. The unobstructed view of the crusty old body is growing on me, so I think I may go the first route.
Chuck Most Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Latest "progress"... Added the teeth to the windows (yes- there are fewer on the actual model than shown in the drawing, maybe it was in a bar fight or something), and added the 'door handles', a pair of slip-joint pliers on the driver side, and a double end wrench on the other, both pirated from a Fujimi parts pack.
AzTom Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 lol, i like the "door handles" What he said. Those are too cool! AzTom
exesivefire Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 love the details, awesome job so far. thank you for sharing!
Chuck Most Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Latest update... I refer you to Under Glass!
