slant6 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 This might be on here somewhere, if so I missed it, but can anyone show/tell me how to build a custom roll cage? Ive tried it before using the left over parts tree, but, with unfavorable results. I just couldn't get the pieces to stay together.
baddgass Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 CHECK OUT BIG BOYZ, LOOK FOR OLDMAN ENGINEER PROJECT 57 CHEVY. MAY HELP U.
randx0 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 My favorite method consists of using plastic tubing (size may vary) with wire inside to help keep the bends bent.others use plastic rod using heat to bend it.for single hoops you could even use solder or craft wire found at michaels.there are a lot of different ways to skin this cat it just depends on what you are comfortable with.
RacinRay88 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I use styrene rod from evergreen. take a look at my "2006 dale jr. richmond win" build. i built almost the entire cage and bumper frame with the styrene it bends very easily! hope this helped
Brutalform Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 The leftover trees have a too large of a diameter, IHMO....You can use Evergreen 1/16 diameter, with a heat gun to bend it, and some Ambroid Pro Weld to keep the joints together.
slant6 Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 The diameter was definitely to large, is that possibly the problem, because I used Pro Weld and I still couldn't get it to hold together right. Guess Ill have to get over to the hobby shop sometime soon.
