Need help from you guys that know your AMC Javelins. As some of you might know. I am getting ready to come out with a resin 70 Javelin. It has been announced on my web site.

What I have to do this is the race version of this kit. The Trans Am Mark Donahue model kit. I am going with leaving the body factory. I got allot of input from many builders that want one of these and that they would prefer the street factory version. So I felt I was going to just offer the kit that way.

Well I have a change for the better, I hope, with this new plan. I just had my good friend here in Phoenix, Tom Allen lend me a very nice built up of a JoHan 69 street version Javelin. So what I want to know is. Will the interior from the 69 work for the 70? If this is so, about the only thing I cannot offer for the street 70 Javelin now will be the hood vents. I am open for any suggestion with that, also.

Thanks in Advance for any help with this.

Hood vents???

The '70 had a twin-inlet hood scoop. What "hood vents" are you talking about? See image below. It's an AMX but the hood was the same.

That is what I am talking about. The race car kit only came with block outs for the inlets on that hood scoop. So that is the only way I can offer it.

The 70 Javelin had a totally different dash than the 68/69 (though same as the 70 AMX). Also, the 70 had high back bucket seats, whereas the 69 had seats with separate headrests. Each year had its own unique door panel, but they were shared same year between the AMX and Javelin. Hope this helps.

Thanks that is something I needed to know.

Hi There Matt

The only Stock interior items you need to worry about are the interior panels. The Donohue, Penske, Sunoco Javelin used a flat plate of Aluminum for a Dash, the Seat (only one on a TransAm Car) was a thinly padded Racing Seat and the Steering Wheel was a 3 chrome spoke (with 3 holes in each spoke) with thick rubber coating wheel like one would have picked up at any Kmart Auto Parts Dept of the time.

The only thing the 70 Javelin shared with the 69 is the basic body, the hood, Grill and Rear bumper was different,Plus the interior was totally different, The AMX was produced on a 96 inch wheelbase as oppossed to the 108 inch Javelin, On the real cars the only thing that was interchangable was the doors,Trunk front fenders, the 68 and 69 look alot like the 70,but there alot of minor differences to set all three years apart,One thing that bugs me though,Is when alot of people make the mistake of saying the 68-70 AMX'S were Javelins, Not true the first "Javelin AMX was an option on the 71-74 models.
