I always liked the 83-86 and 87-88 Thunderbirds, especially the TurboCoupes. An underappreciated car for the time (same with the SVO Mustang).

I need to get my TurboCoupe kit back out and work on it. Seeing you get yours done makes me think about working on mine (it has only been 4 years started now!)

Yeah I first built this kit when it came out. Had to do it again. If I do another one. I will use parts from the new mustang the engine and rims. maybe even turn it into a cop car.

You mean parts from Revells new Coupe? If so, different scales. The 'Bird is 1/24th and the Coupe is 1/25th. May not sound like much, but believe me it is (I have already had the two side-by-side and there is a LOT of difference).

I think a Cop TurboCoupe would be cool!

Since I am at work and the computer doesn't allow photobucket, I will have to get you pics of my TurboCoupe (non)progress when/if I get home!

You asked for some pics of my T-Coupe; I hope you don't mind me posting a few here.

Rough idea of wheel choice and stance. Wheel centers will be a darker Gray or Bronze color

Had to shorten the hood and front fenders as they are too long.

Makings of the Volvo B234F DOHC conversion (just like my 1:1 GT Turbo Mustang is getting)

The front lower belt guide plate for the 2.3T (usually hidden by the Black plastic guard).

The wheels are some die-cast 1/32nd Jada centers stuck into a set of Pegasus 23" rear hoops and a set of special-made 21" front hoops. I got to the 'working suspension' point on this and stopped (as I didn't like the way the coil-overs were looking. That was 3 years ago. Need to drag it back out and get to work on it again.

Yes drag it out. Your t bird will look cool under the hood.

Update. well I had to tear the front end off. the lights where just not sitting right, parts sticking out.

So I think I will Glue the Clear glass first then the light housing.

After some fiddling got the front end back on. with lights, still not perfect fit.

Andre, I actually cut my lenses into 3 parts, filed/trimmed, and re-fit them so they would fit flush and not have a too-long look. MUCH cleaner install too, as I could work from inside lens out and fit as I went.

I know where the kit is, it is just a matter of getting it back out and remembering what colors I was going with!

what a great idea I should have thought of that, Maybe when i get some right cutting tools I will do that.

No problem Andre, glad to offer up a solution. I just used a razor saw and carefully made my cuts after taping the lens down. I made the first cut, moved the tape, and made the second cut. Once I had the cuts smoothed out, the lenses practically fell into place (as each cut is roughly .015", so .030" was taken out with cutting. That is almost the length that the lenses stick out beyond the outer turn-over of the parking light).

Now all I have to do is get some of this paint from can to bottle to do the much needed touch ups.

Looks nice. I just have a question/comment. That black stripe is actually the rubber molding, correct? If it were to be painted a flat or satin black instead of the gloss black, it would have a more rubbery look and I think it would help the red stripe stand out a bit more too... just a thought.

Hey Garry .. I think you are right. but at the time I started the trim I think I was all out of flat black. Lets just say there is alot of armour all on that trim,.

and to think of it.. so far that trim was the hardest part of this model.. I think it adds to the realism . But I learned a thing or too about masking. getting better so its still very rewarding. thanks for the Feedback.
