I got this in the mail today, i have been waiting for this kit for a long time. It is a 1988 kit of the Lamborghini LP500S. I am hoping to do a lot of detain on this kit. I have always like Lamborghini, and why not build a kit that is as old as I am.

Today i went to lowes to buy some shelfing to place some of my kits, i strolled through the spray paint are and saw the best color i have seen in my life. I didnt want to paint the countach, but i thought this color would be perfect.

First i needed to paint it black, for a base coat

Then came the color, it is a Rustoleum Specialty Colorshift

It turns from purple to blue to green in some lights, i tried but i couldnt get a good picture of the color in action

That is a great color, isn't it!? I've also seen some red and gold in it in sunliight, and pictures don't do this color justice. I'm not trying to hijack your thread, I just thought you'd me like to see my current project using the same color. B)

I can't wait to see the Lambo finished, you picked a perfect color for it.

I like the detail in the interior, it is giving me some good ideas. I still do not know what color I want to paint the interior. Anybody have any ideas of the color combination for the interior that will flow with the paint color. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Testor's Model Master Leather in my truck along with a lighter tan and semi gloss black on some of the details, I don't think it looks too bad with the body color. If you want to see a pic or two, let me know. I don't want to overrun your build with pics of mine!

Thanks DoubleD, I never thought about spraying disposable spoons as a test, I like that Honey color. I am still undecided though.

UPDATE- I gave the car another coat of paint, it seems to pop out more, I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Yeah, from what my can said, the more coats the more intense the effect. I only have two coats so far on my rig, but I plan one or two more.

This is the second coat of paint.

You can see the color shift better with these pictures, i just cant get the other colors to show on camera.

These are the colors i decided to go with in the interior. Thanks Highway for the idea.

Looking good! I like the body color on the cam covers (or whatever they are  ), nice touch!

Thanks. I have the same exact car that I have started on, but it's a Tamiya brand. I looked for that paint the other day and my Lowes does not carry it. Guess I'll have to look further.

Did you check where they have the spray paints? That is where I found mine, and I also found another color at my local Lowes last Saturday call "Gamma Green" in the same Colorshift line.

Yeah, I checked everything they had. No color shift paint at all. I live in a smaller town. I have to go 20 min.s or so to go to Hobby Town or Hobby Lobby or go by HL where I work at in a totally different town. So I'm sure I'll have to try Murfreesboro or Franklin Lowes if I get lucky and find it then.

I hope you do find it, you will love the results. The pictures here really does not do it justice. I was going to suggest trying to find it online at Lowes.com, but I checked not only the stores you mentioned, by my local store that I know had a full row of each as of Saturday night, and can't find it anywhere!

Maybe I'll get lucky at one of the bigger stores. Wonder if this will work. I want to do a knight rider Mustang. Almost have it finished. It has color shifting paint too. Some times it's metallic grey and sometimes it looks black. How about a metallic grey with a pearl black coat on top. Will that let the grey show through and give it that shifting look to it or not ??
