With those incorrect wheels and exhaust pipes peeking out under the body, I'd be concerned it wasn't one of the original 4.....the link doesn't mention or show any documentation from Barris, just an autograph from Adam West. <_<

Well, Symbolic Motors is a respected and long-standing collector dealership in California, and they're not going to make any bogus claims.

As you'll see at the site below, this fiberglass version has undergone a number of modifications over the years.

The saddest thing to me about the #1 steel Batmobile is that it's not just based on the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, it IS that car built by Ghia for Ford at a cost of $250,000 (in 1955 dollars). What a shame. It appeared in the Glenn Ford Movie, "It Started With a Kiss" in its original form and you can still find Futura kits on eBay.

I quess I should have said "not accurate to the #1". The #2, 3, &4 Barris cars are not even close to the #1. Tilt front ends? Look at the dashboards.

The value isn't in how accurate it is compared to #1, the value is in the fact that it's one of the original four "real" Barris Batmobiles, and not a later clone. Lots of people have made "accurate" Batmobile clones, but none of them are one of the original four.

I didn't see a price listed. But I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it! <_<

If I remember correctly the article I read said the replicas are around $150,000. Just pocket change, right?B)

The #3 Batmobile they pictured looks to have AR Nugget wheels or something similar. It would of had Radir Wheels originally.

I do indeed want to buy a Batmobile. It's 1/25th scale and due out 2011

I built one using the revell Futura kit, have a go, its a whole load of fun :D You dont have to scratch build much as most of the conversion is just adding or extending what is already there. The hardest part was making the bat fin scollops, but these I only needed two goes at. The wheelwells are just cut out and shaped.

Scale Auto did a feature on the conversion which was a shame as I had already built mine, but they used the same processes as I did so I guess I had it right.

About 14 years back I took it to the Doncaster custom car show when they had a model show as well, entered it and won a certificate for best slammer, well chuffed :D

Too true, definitely leaves me out of it.

I'll be quite content with a Revell Batmobile, cause I really don't have the space for the 1/1 anyway

I just ordered the Lincoln Futura kit, which is a curbside. The show car used the engine from the 1955 Lincoln Continental Mark II, but I can only find a kit of that car in 1/32. Anyone know what alternative I might look for?

Since the Batmobile was supposedly "jet powered," I say glue the hood shut and call it a curbside!

Well, that's cool. I want to build the original show car and not the Batmobile, though.

I have seen buildups of the Revell Futura repop. Apparently it builds into quite a plausible model. I haven't done it myself yet, though.
