Deckerz Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Tomorrow morning im going to the most popular carboot in my area which is also my local carboot. Im mainly going to get a few cans of paint because the ones i buy they sell for less then half price at the carboot. what are the chances of finding 1 more more model car kits at a carboot?
highway Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Please don't take offense to this, but what in the world is a carboot?

Oh, ok, I get it now! I know a few flea markets a friend of mine has went to here in the states usually has some luck finding some cheap models there.
sak Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) I have been to a few american style flea markets and they semmed to be full of venders selling mostly new products, cloting, as-seen-on-tv stuff, did not see anything of interest to me. But I you can find one that deals with collectibles or even just antiques or other junk, you will have great luck. Flea markets are the only place I buy mine, sometimes as low as only a few dollars. I went with a friend to something called a comic-con. Mostly comic books but a guy had a table with starwar toys, but underneath was still wrapped model car kits for five bucks each. Junkman Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) The chances to find a plastic model kit at a British boot sale are bordering zero. It's hard enough to find model kit vendors at toy fairs, but at boot sales it would be a huge coincidence to find a model kit, especially an automotive one. You might find your odd Airfix Spitfire which has been built by a kid 30 years ago and deteriorated from then onwards. @highway - a boot sale is something typically British. It is indeed like a flea market at first glance, but the vendors are overwhelmingly non-professionals. It's really people selling the stuff which has accumulated in their lofts over the past centuries. Edited October 24, 2010 by Junkman
jbwelda Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 hmmm i went to a lotus club show out in coventry and they had a boot sale and indeed there were a number of models, built and not, to be had there, for pretty cheap mostly. now i know what you mean probably isnt a car-centric flea market (as they are referred to here in the states), but i think you have as good a chance as anywhere of coming across something. secret probably is to get there early (as in way before i care to get somewhere like that on a sunday morning) as i have ahem heard thats when the good stuff goes fast. now that i think of it i was at a neighborhood flea market in copenhagen and two or three people had model kits, i recall one tamiya wrc subaru or something like that.
