seanyb505 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I'll be adding a Plymouth Prowler to my Mopar collection soon, but upon my searching I've found two versions, both with trailers. Out of the Revell and the AMT kits, which is better? Better fit, accuracy, overall quality? I'd be willing to sacrifice ease of build for a better looking, more realistic model that doesn't look cheap and toy-like. I'm not opposed to the Snap-tite, I just figure that would definitely be more toy-like. Thanks!
Chuck Most Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Revell did two kits- a snap and full detail glue. In my opinion, the AMT kit is better than the Revell glue kit as far as detail, but the Revell seemed to build easier. If I were to build another one, I'd probably go for the Revell kit, and look for one that's not molded in color.
Steven Zimmerman Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I like the Revell kit better, because the windshield frame is molded integrally with the body, while the AMT kit has the windshield frame molded right on to the glass. I realize this is just personal preference, but I think it's easier to assemble this way, and also easier to paint. Also,I think the R/M headlights are a little less 'fiddly' to assemble, and look more realistic. On the other hand, the AMT tires are about the best set of big n littles on the market,IMHO ( also found in the Wagonrod and Phantom Vickie kits ) and I buy them every chance I get...Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man
seanyb505 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Thanks for the replies, I ordered the Revell kit #85-0874. Plan is for a twin turbo salt flat racer. Unfortunately "Plymouth Prowler" is about 13th down the list alphabetically. I may have to finally start doing more than one at a time...
Chuck Most Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Thanks Mark! It was AMT which did the Snap Kit, not Revell- the Revell Prowlers were glue-only. (That might be why you don't remember the Revell Snap Prowler. )
