I've been using Bondo Professional Spot Putty, the 2 part kind, not the 1 part red Glazing Putty. It comes in 2 tubes, the filler itself plus a catalyst. It's similar to the regular Bondo, but a bit thinner and has a smoother consitancy. Sticks very well to styrene. I get mine from the FLAPS or Wal-Mart.

Ditto on that. Great product, cheap, available anywhere (Walmart, any auto parts store).

i've had good luck with Squadron putty - both green & white flavors. i think the difference is that white dries slower but is a finer finish. in all honesty, i cannot tell the difference. the purists recommend something different which they claim will not shrink over time, but i'm lucky i guess and have no had any problems with Squadron.

I've been using white squadron putty. It works well but is really tough to sand smooth. I have a big can of Bondo but I hate working with that stuff. The fumes are terrible.

Oh, is the squadron supposed to go on so flaky or did I get an old tube?

you must have had "nos". i've had to knead the tube before (i don't use a lot of putty - i just buy a new tube once a year) but never had anything but success with it. i stick to the green version.

Be sure to shake the tube of hardener before using, as the solids in it will settle to the bottom & when you first squeeze it out. all you'll get is a liquid, messy goo if you fail to shake it.

I usually knead the tube a bit before I squeeze any out in addition to shaking. Seems to mix it a bit better.
