BHarrison Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I have posted on here before, a Speedstar project I did in the current style (HOK Blue with flames and big wheels with leather style interior) but I have always wanted to go back and do some of the other verisons of the Speedstar line made popular by 1:1 builder Bobby Allloway and Rat's Glass. One of the versions I wanted to do was the Trackstar which was a track-nosed version of the Speedstar Coupe. I wanted to merge the new contemporary style with the Muroc dry lakes look of the 40's using alot of real aluminum machined parts, some vintage styling cues, as well as a more authentic lakes style interior. I have so far made the mods necessary to the body to mimic the Speedstar and have made my own mods to the track nose. I have so far machined 4 "Buick Style" big brake drums but smooth for a more contemporary look, made front radius arms "drilled", rear trailing arms "also drilled", made an aluminum front drop axle but tubular as opposed to the I beam of the 40's. I have had rear hoops machined by MAS to mate up Pegasus centers to a 22" taller narrower style tire than is usually found on the rear of these cars. I also used a quick change Winters center section for the rearend with an aluminum tube axle. Color is to be a really dark Metallic Green with saddle colored interior with bare aluminum on the doors and seats. Now for the pics.... An early mockup pic.... With front radius arms installed.... Front suspension and brake drums... Rear suspension/diff mockup... The suspension pieces are made to mimic the "Perfection" line of CNC'd parts by Johnson's Hot Rod Shop the are old style but with current processes to build and attachment points. More pics this week sometime....
Bernard Kron Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Very impressive to see a ,build at this level;.I love the contemporary style blended with the sprtit of the dry lakes. The detail and craftsmanship lend a degree of crispness and authenticty which is often lacking in this style of build. Some questions. What is the origin of the Winters q.c.? Also, the body? And finally, will this be a curbside or, if not, what's the motor gonna be? Thanx for sharing!

The body I use is from Jimmy Flintstone. He has two bodies very similar. One has a track nose and the other has a narrow blade type nose. The rest of the two bodies is the same and I chose which one based on which nose I need it to have. Its just going to be a curbide like the last one I built.
