Terror Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Drop a BB in your brush paint bottle for mixing.Does anyone else do this?Barrowed the idea from the spray paint companies.
GeeBee Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Most of my bottles of paint apart from the smaller one's have a glass ball, which helps when the paint has settled for a time
bang bang Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 You mean like the glass balls that people use in floral plants & stuff, like the ones you see at Micheal"s? Great idea. Most of my paints are in 1/2 ozs. containers. Maybe the bb's would work best in that regard.Great idea.

Yes, just regular glass marbles, cheap to buy Although for smaller jars, BB's are perhaps the way to go
935k3 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Be careful on thinner jars. Alclad used to put a bb in the jar. I shook one too hard and broke the bottle. That probably happened to other people because they do not have anything but paint in the bottles now.
Ddms Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Alclad used to put a bb in the jar. I shook one too hard and broke the bottle. He who does not know history is doomed to repeat it. I put a ball bearing in an Alclad bottle and the same thing happened. The glass seemed pretty thin. What a mess!
Mike Kucaba Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I've been using the match grade BB's for several years. They come in a box that looks like a milk carton and have a zinc coating that seems to keep metal from flaking off. I've even used them in acrylics.
GeeBee Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The 60 ML bottles I buy in have a small BB supplied, although I still haven't used them yet
Terror Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 I should have mentioned,I use testors brush paints, they don't supply a shaker ball.I use BB's from the air guns or pump up red rider gun.The one that puts your eye out kid!
Aaronw Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Since I use acrylics I was worried a BB might corrode over time, so I bought a bunch of small plastic balls, but same idea. I don't know that it really makes much difference, acrylics seem to gunk onto the bottom more than I remember enamels doing. I usually just use an old piece of sprue to stir it up, then I'll throw it on my paint shaker if it seems to need more.
GeeBee Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Since I use acrylics I was worried a BB might corrode over time, Which is why I went for the glass marbles, if they work with the cellulose I work with, they should be fine with acrylic's
raildogg Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I've been using surplus machine nuts. The one from nuts and bolts only no bolts.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I use small beads inside plastic bottles with York tops. Never had any problems.
