W-409 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 I started waxing the body. Top is pretty much done, but there's still some waxing left. I can't get to that model car contest, so I lost bit of inspiration of this build... That's why it has been pretty slow progress.
W-409 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Well, times have changed. I'm going to that Model Car Contest, and I'm having little hurry with this build. I can't get it 100% finished, there will be few decals missing from the chassis and hood can't be ready in that time. But I'll display it with hood off, as always. I waxed the body and put some BMF. Rear window is built from acetate and windshield is installed too. Engine is completed and installed to chassis. There are still lots of parts missing, and tomorrow will be long day-and night with this project. But it'll be finished, I'm pretty sure about that...
W-409 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Few mock up pics... Oh, it's getting dark here...
W-409 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Here are some more WIP pictures. Only parts which are missing, is the hood and some star decals. I had some problems with the doors, but now everything fits somehow and Corvette was ready for the Model car Contest. Here are some pictures, and I'd like to say again, THE CAR IS STILL WIP. Handbrake handle is scratchbuilt.
W-409 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Here are two pictures of that Corvette in Model Car Contest. Almost finished, but still In Progress...
W-409 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks! I'm going to sand that hood tomorrow, and maybe I can paint some primer on it too. Or then more putty, let's see. I need also better register plate to the front, that one is just piece of paper, where I wrote those letters... I must make one, which matches to that one on the rear end. There are some other little things to do, but it's getting very close.
Scale-Master Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 You know the loops in the seatbelt buckles are to thread the belts through. If it is not too late to remove them and reinstall them correctly it will make a big improvement to them.
W-409 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Thanks, Mark. But I'm afraid that it's too late already. They are glued with Super glue and I guess if I try to get 'em off, those seats will get off before I can get those belt buckles away. But thanks, I will do that thing better in next model.
W-409 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 Now I'm back with the Corvette. It's not finished yet, as I have said already, here are two pictures of the hood in progress. First one is after some putty, and now I sanded it. Needs to put some more bondo and hopefully it'll be ready for primering pretty soon. I'm waiting for few decals to the chassis also, but otherwise it's pretty much done. That register plate on the front is just a little thing, and very easy to change.
W-409 Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Little update to Corvette project, it's not forgotten. I applied some more bondo for the hood, and it's starting to look good. Tomorrow I can continue sanding, and maybe some primer soon. I hope. And decals arrived today. Since the printer was changed, new one wasn't able to print white color anymore. So I messed one decal sheet because of that. So I gave decals to one finish modeler, who printed them out, and made few modifications to make those decals better. Huge thanks, if you read this text! Tomorrow I will try those star decals, and how they work. Fuel tank needs them, and lets see if I find another good place for them.
W-409 Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Now I have those decals installed. As you can see from that picture above, those stars were on black "background". So I had to remove that black part. I ended up as white stars, and I assembled them on their places. And now I can say, that the chassis is pretty much finished. Maybe I add some clear over the decals, but I'm not sure about that yet.
'08SEAL Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Haha the tire cove looks like an american pac man
W-409 Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Haha the tire cove looks like an american pac man ! Thanks, I'll post few pics bit later when I first take them.
'08SEAL Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Cool! This is awesome! I think you did a great job with a bondo and with the hood scoop.
W-409 Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks again. Here's one picture from that hood in primer. Needs to add some more bondo tomorrow, but it's getting closer to being painted. Also needs to make that license plate for the front.
W-409 Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Some more putty and sanding for the hood. Tomorrow I will primer it again, hopefully I can paint it after that, but not sure about that yet. Otherwise than that hood, this car is pretty much done, license plate on the front needs to be changed, but nothing special.
W-409 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 I painted the hood yesterday evening, and today I'll be installing decal(s) for it. I'm not sure am I going to add stars to it, or any other decals, but at least one Rebel flag is coming.
W-409 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 (edited) I have installed Rebel Flag decal to the hood scoop, and after that I cleared the hood. Tomorrow I will wax it and then this car is finished. Also installed that new front register plate, which was printed out today. Edited December 23, 2011 by W-409
