HI:

If you read the Jairus Watson article on the Galaxie Chevy build up this tip might help a bit. I have several of these fine kits and the article inspired me to get one out and get going. However, I just can’t seem to find the right wheel and tire combination…..you can pretty much forget Pegasus items unless you want to do major surgery…..but a few years back when I got these kits I found a set of nice wheels and tires in an old re-issue of the Ed Roth Beatnik Bandit by Revell. There is a nice set of chrome wheels with some skinny slicks that will fit right up into the Galaxie Chevy wheel wells……just add some baby moos (or not)….and you have it…..see the pics below….

Pretty good piece of information, Bill! I wonder why Galaxie never included slicks in these kits, as the drag version was shown prominently on the box for the sedan.

However.. be careful of tires from the original Beatnik Bandit ( or any early sixties Revell Kit) as they were made from a different rubber compound.

They will melt your wheels over time...

Good point but these are from the late ninties re-issue of the kit. .... not the original sixties kit.... In any case I wold not raid an early sixties kit for the parts.....especially if it was complete......
