For quite some time now I have been watching the series "Ice Road Truckers" on our t.v over here, it's even better now that we have it in HD, anyway I have wanted to build a model truck in there colours for some time, I have an Italeri Peterbilt 378 coming, I know it won't be 100% prototypical, as they seem to run kenworths, but I have just found and ordered the decals from Modeltruckin.com, in 1/25th scale, hopefully I will have them soon, the next problem is the paint, scalefinishes have the paint in stock, http://www.scalefini....com/fleet.html, see Carlile blue, but they don't ship out of the U.S, Now I would prefer to use the basecoat and clearcoat, is there anyone that side of the pond that could help, if I can't get the paint is there anyone who has a colour chip or code I could probably get the paint mixed this side of the pond.

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Geoff, I'm sorry I can't really help on the paint request, the best advice I can give you there os check your local auto parts stores and see if you can find something close.

However, as for the Pete 378, you would be building a Carlisle truck! I'm going to have to go through my Facebook page again, but I have Alex as a friend, and he was tagged in an album with many different Carlisle trucks. I'll try to find it again and put a link up for you, along with the Pete trucks I seen in that album.

Ok found it! I hope this link will work.

Facebook Carlisle Truck Pics

Just in case, here are a couple of the Carlisle Peterbilts I found there.

Of course, if you have trouble finding a close shade of blue, here is one you could build!

EDIT: OK, it looks like you have to be logged in to Facebook to see the pics on the link. It worked while I was logged in, but after I logged out, the link comes up as a log in screen.

Nice assortment of trucks! Thanks for the link.

No problem, I guess it helps to have some high class friends!

What you need to do is find someone in the US who is willing to order the paint and then ship it to you.

That being said, you may still not get it as Jameston's reason for not shipping outside of the US is probably due to the fact that most national postal systems don't look kindly upon paint. For example: Canada Post doesn't do paint of any kind period. I have no idea if the British Postal system is similar.

Also be prepared to possibly pay hefty import duties and taxes upon it's arrival.

Another thought would be to contact Jameston@SCale Finishes and see if he'll share the code for it with you. Then that code can be taken to your local auto paint supply shop so that they can custom mix it for you. I'd check to see IF they can do this before I emailed Jameston.

I'm the modeler responsible for asking Jameston if he could mix Carlisle Blue and it took him a few days to get the proper code.

Just my two cents on the subject.

That's Carlile's Winter Camouflage. Let's them sneek by Smokey on The Dalton.

Maybe that's the truck they need to let Hugh drive next year! His favorite DOT bear would never see him coming! :D:D

The first unit is a 379-119 with Ultracab. This is close to the Italeri Long Hauler. Just modify the hood to be the 379-119 hood, a resin roof from P&P and some resin 2 holes, scratchbuild the moose guard and you're on your way. The second unit is a 378 but has a 48" low roof. The 378 also has under-cab routed exhaust piping and the fuel tanks are mounted quite a ways forward.

Plenty of possibilities to replicate these two.

Thanks for all the help and info' guy's I'm not giving up just yet and getting the proper colour mixed, and about shipping paint in the U.K, there's no problem, as you can order aerosols, and lacquer paints, and the post office will ship them all.

Thanks for the replies, but this morning I had an email from Scalefinishes

"Geoff,

Thank you for contacting me. I just got a new computer, and I don't have any of my Scalefinishes files transfered over. Everything should be transfered to the new computer by the weekend, and I'll be able to give you an email with the paint code for the Carlile blue then.

Thanks again,

Jameston"

So hopefully I will be able to get the paint mixed up over here,

Well after going from pillar to post, I finally had some good news, and my paint will soon be on it's way, I have 100mls of basecoat and a litre of basecoat thinners on order, although I couldn't find it on there on-line database, they found it elsewhere, so in the future, if there is anyone in the U.K that needs paint mixing up give http://www.paints4u.com/ a go.
