robertburns Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 http://public.fotki.com/robertburns/my_mod...021006_038.html After the destruction of the first Death Star, Darth Vader found himself alone and far from the closest Empire outpost. The sole survivor’s experimental TIE Fighter finally ran out of fuel near the habitable planet of Snrub. Vader drifted until gliding into the planet’s forest continent. After the distress beacon was launched, Vader decided to create a makeshift shelter. He knew the it would be at least a week before the Empire could locate him. Through the use of the force, Lord Vader constructed a house using the components from the TIE fighter. After the completion of the structure, Vader spent the week contemplating the recent defeat. After being rescued, Lord Vader commissioned the Empire Corps of Engineers to rebuild the shelter into a permanent structure. Vader has always loved his fighters. The Empire built him a new fighter, but he couldn’t let this one waste away or be recycled. Vader now uses the structure as a Summer Cabin from time to time. The Sith Lord uses it to get away from the pressures of the Empire. Torturing rebel scum can be quite taxing. The forest landscape provides a great getaway for fishing, yoga, and light sabre practice. I normally would never had bought the kit. I bided a dollar for a 1/48th scale Naboo fighter for a dollar on ebay. I needed the model to scale up to a 1/24th scale version. I won it after no one else bided on it. The seller also had a few other Star Wars kits with low starting bids, so I bid on a few to save on shipping. I ended up with a 3 more kits included AMT Ertl’s Darth Vader TIE Fighter. I just got it for greeblie parts. While playing with the solar panel wings, I got the idea of them being a roof or car port. Then the story started following. I then played around with the rest of the parts. It wasn’t long until the body top and bottom felt right at home (no pun intended) as the walls of the structure. The model was becoming more of a permanent structure rather than something cobbled together after a wreck. Part of the charm of the model is that it is so recognizable as a TIE. The window and solar panels are well known, even to people who are not serious fans of the original trilogy. Hope you like it.]
Jairus Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I think you have too much time on your hands Robert.
robertburns Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 Oh, but you're correct my dear Watson. I have a month until my next assignment, so I'm taking the time to build as much as I can. Next week I'm going to try a building marathon. I'm going to see how long I can continuously build stuff!
Jairus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I started 29 months ago and have not stopped yet!
