Guest JamesDE Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Started this one a couple weeks ago. Shaved the trim, gutters, and handles and molded the front and rear pans to the body. Used the kit wheels and the whitewalls are from a 59 or 60 Impala kit. More to come soon... Edited January 18, 2011 by JamesDE
Dr. Cranky Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 On the right track so far. I never get tired of looking at 49 Mercs!
Peter Lombardo Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Virgil is right, I also never tire of the '49, '50 and '51 Mercury, the quintessential Lead-sled's. I like the skirts and the shaved body frills.....looking good.
Guest JamesDE Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Thanks guys. I am debating on whether or not to chop the top... just a little nervous on that...

Darren B Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I love these cars, some of the best ever!!! Ill be watching this with great interest. Awesome work so far. Keep up the great work.
Ron W. Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Here is my semi- custom 49 Merc.57 Chevy skirts, wheels & tires from the 29 Rat Rod kit.
Ron W. Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Or you can remove the top,and get the chopped windshield, and "carson top" from the 49 ford Convertable kit,and do this. The "V" angle at the rear of the hood HAS to be the 49 Merc...the 49 ford is different,so you just move your "cut" line rearward to keep the same hood line. You can see it in the first pic if you look close. The rest matched right up nice. and you end up with this.
