that's awesome! i bought the diecast a long, long time ago for the same reason but never had the skills or could find decals to do the markings. always thought it would be a cool car to have on the shelf and on display even if it isn't "correct"

I agree, I have the Maisto 18th scale still sitting and would love to find the markings to recreate this beauty... Nice work... B)

Lots of pictures here of the original and replicas. Shouldn't be too hard to make your own decals.

A few years ago, I looked into getting a fiberglass replica from Thunder Ranch, but it was so impractical I dropped the idea. Nobody has aftermarket systems for adding either heat or air (Vintage Air doesn't do air-cooled engines; the car, however, can be ordered with a Mitsubishi water-cooled engine instead of the standard VW Super Beetle engine). The fact that the gas tank is essentially suspended over your lap is also a little off-putting.

By, the way, here's a sticker set made for the Maisto diecast. The source says it's out of stock, but you could probably make decals from it.

Shouldn’t be too hard to make your own, yes…

And you could just copy those… but they are neither accurate nor complete.

Compare the license plate and the #130 numeral shape to mine…

The “Little Bastard†art on the sticker is a resident font (Brush Script), not a match to the hand lettered art I replicated from photos of the real car.

The Spyder badging (should replace Speedster, I did not put them on this mule) and the Nurburgring and coachmakers badges (I did put on this) are not on that sheet.

And if you are going to strip and repaint, you will also need Porsche script and crest badging for the hood and deck lid... Oh yeah, you will have to change the shape and proportions of the red spears as they do not fit the Maisto 550 as drawn... (My client provided one of those sheets with the books and reference material...) Guess it only matters what you want… and it is "just a die-cast". Just build for yourself... Can't go wrong with that can you?

Your graphics are certainly far more accurate than the decal set I posted. It's attention to detail like the small serifs on the 1 and the 3, plus the proper slant to the O that recreate the original.
