i have been using dupli color and rustoleum clears on my models after basecoats but i really want to step up to urethane clear. im in a tech school for autobody and know how to mix it and spray it, and i know it will come out alot nicer than spray can clear, but should i spray it through my paasche talon airbrush or should i buy a mini spray gun?

I have successfully sprayed HOK urethane clear through my Paasche VL, but I do have to thin it quite a bit. :o

I spray it through my single action airbrush all the time too. But yes you do have to thin it. Give it a try it works great and has a nice shine.

I have an air brush, but prefer to use my mini spray gun for the clear. I must say I paint in my garage, if you are painting inside a house or appartment, an airbrush may be a better idea, a mini spray gun makes a lot more fumes than an airbrush. That said, I wouldn't spray urethane clear in a house or appartment.
