Jim B
What are people using on their work table/desk/etc as the actual work area to save the table top? Know what I'm talking about? I've seen people using some sort of green pad with a grid pattern on it. Where can I get one of those? Hobby shop? Jo-Ann Fabrics?
JdKustomModels
you can get green cutting pads at www.micromark.com that is where I got mine
FIREMODELMAN
Funny you should bring this up, i just bought a new one from wal-mart last week for 5 bucks. This one is a hard plastic, light blue, and is made to be cut on.. It is made buy JUNE TAYLOR. Look in the sewing section at you local wal-mart, or like you said, jo-ann fabric's, they will for sure have 'em.
Brian_R
I'm using a foam sheet from the craft store. Little parts don't bounce as far this way. They're 99 cents each and I cut them down or toss 'em when they get messed up. Brian

mackinac359
This is my work area right after the room was finished in December of '05. It has changed a bit here and there since. Tim
Jim B
Very professional. Also saw this photo on your Website. What's that green pad on your desk? I also like your display area.
mackinac359
Jim The green pad is a big green hobby cutting pad that I bought at a now closed local hobby store. I've since replaced it with the much-cheaper (and cheaper quality) sewing/quilting cutting pad (from WalMart). Tim
SpreadAxle
The green pad so common on here is available at hobby lobby. You can probably get the sewing pad Tim mentioned there as well.
SpreadAxle
Brian and Tim, you both have my dream workbench. Here's is assembly station #1. That's the passenger seat in my T600 off to the left in the pic. Some of my other tools are in a box that I pull out when I do my work. As for assembly station #2, it was a nice big wooden workbench at home with parts trays, etc, but I have since moved.
Brian_R
Ray, If you started hauling doubles, you could have a portable workroom of your own. (One trailer to make money - one to spend money on.) You could pull in to a contest and have your own portable show! Brian
SpreadAxle
Oh what I could do in a 27' box as far as a workbench goes!!!!! I kicked around the idea of making a small section of the 3 door enclosed headache rack on my other rig into a spray booth complete with a vent tube and fan. then a friend of mine quit the flatbed biz(harder work than he thought) and gave me his equipment including his 25' long chains. they took up the space I planned on using. seems crazy to do to a truck, but I stay out longer than most. I may still do it in my new enclosed headache rack. A fan and tube wouldn't be too hard to put in. Just need a shelf to hang in there. I would certainly get a few oddball looks from the other truckers as I stood on the deck plate spray painting in my headache rack, spray painting models. LOL!!!!!
