cappy625 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 hello anybody familiar with ertle's version of the 1\25scale kw areodyne coe. i never seen one from ertle before.their is one on ebay now and i'm thinking of buying it.can anybody tell me about this kit.thankyou.
whale392 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I believe the Ertl is an AMT kit. If it is of the same caliber (build-wise and parts count wise) as the other AMT offerings of the time (truck kits here, not cars), it will be a very nice piece once completed.
cappy625 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 ok i got alittle excited and bought it anyway.i'll probably regret the 86 dollers i just plunked down but i've been building these truck kits since the70's and i never seen one.i checked again and its not an amt\ertle it says esci\ertle.
clayton Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Sounds like the one with the blue cab on box art(AMT/Ertle). I think it is the same kit as the BJ and the Bear kit. it is a good kit,I got one. The Bj kit came out rite after the show(red and white cab). Then Amt did a re-pop a few year ago with the blue cab(I think)I under stand it is the same kit.
cappy625 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 thanks for the info. i seen the bj and the bear and the blue one from amt. and revell made one too. but this one has esci/ertle on it. which is the first time i ever seen that.
Jim B Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 The AMT/Ertl/Esci Kenworth Aerodyne are all the same kit. They are based on the Tyrone malone Papa & Hideout trucks, so they have long frames & the Kenworth 8-bag air ride suspension.

It is a very nice kit to build... I built one way back in 1995... It does have a very long frame, so I shortened it by one section, and it looks AOK now...
