trogdor Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Inspired by a thread not too long ago describing what a gasser is I decided to do the following Take an unbuilt AMT 63 Corvette stingray I had And take a built up rat packer I did a while ago I've got some trimming to do on the back of the chassis you can see the pencil line I have drawn already, and I have to cut the interior tub down, but it will fit And hopefully it will all come together made a little progress..........................I started cutting up the frame and interior tub. This actually went better than I thought. I was a bit worried at first because everything was already put together so I had to be very careful holding everything as I made my cuts. Also this is the most I've ever done as far as modifications. I know this is child's play for you guys, but being my first attempt I was very cautious. I used a fine tooth hacksaw to make the first cut across the back, then rounded the corners so they would fit into the rear of the vette. Had to cut off the rear window shelf and lower the tub sides by about 1/4" so it would tuck inside the new body. The dashboard had to be lowered, and the roll cage re-worked. And as of tonight it looks like this, I still have a lot more I want to do with this including getting the rear end to tuck more into the body but the decals got me excited enough to post it up A Big Thank you goes to diymirage for making the Rick's Speed Shop decals for me. Check out his thread over here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40009 He got them done quick and they were packaged very well. I will be ordering more from him for sure.
diymirage Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) looks good (i think i was born well passed the gasser era) my only suggestion would be to cut out a tiny hole in the front rocker and allow to body to sit down just a hair lower those decals do looks nice , very well placed and proportioned and i really like the way they match the "slicks by M&H" on the rear quarters it looks like they belong together now your gonna have to keep the hacksaw out and keep hacking away it it, no going back now Edited March 8, 2011 by diymirage
