Okay guys, have a question. I want to make my own stacks/mufflers, but cannot come with any ideas for heat quards, was thinking

maybe larger evergreen tubing slicked and then drilling lots of holes, but I am sure someone has a better idea out there.

Any ideas ??

Thanks

Fotocut offered some incredible Kenworth photo etched muffler guards, they were sold thru Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. I bought the last batch last year directly from Fotocut. Model Car Garage offers some nice Peterbilt muffler guards. Kit Form Services of Great Britain offer photo etched muffler guards. As far as making your own, I know of a few modelers that have access to a precession vertical drill and had the patience to drill the hundreds of holes thru sheet aluminum. Good luck!

Another suggestion I could think of is using a smooth cover like this:

Or that International uses for their heat shields.

You might consider Aluminum Beer/Soda Cans. They are so thin now they can be cut with Sissors and are easily formed to the dia. you need. Just be careful with the sharp edges and you should be fine.

Plano model products sells photo etch sheets that have your choice of round holes, Peterbilt oval holes, very small rectangles and squares. One sheet could do four stacks with some left over for air cleaner screens or whatever. The sheet is about 3"X7" and costs 12.00 the last time I checked. They can be bought in nickle or brass. (the nickle looks like chrome.)
