steven
I am planning on rebuilding a old amt flatbed trailer to go with my snap peterbilt and would like to know what is the best way to make the plastic molded wood decking look like real wood ? I wish someone made a super thin vaneer I could use. Looking at the trailer now I remember when I built it about 30 years ago I hand brushed on a testors paint called wood . Any help will be appreciated .
SpreadAxle
It makes it look a little better when you paint the "wooden" portions flat black first, then when go over it with a simulated wood paint of your choice. When the "wood" paint dries, sand lightly so the black will show trhu a little bit. It gives the fake woodgrain some depth, and kind of makes it look a little weathered as well. remember, sand lightly or you will have black wood. Good luck. 8)
JdKustomModels
Steven, do you happen to have a Michaels or any other craft store near you? I got a bunch of 1/16" sheet that I have been using.
