DRG Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I was finally able to get out to Ollies and boy am I glad I did. Picked up three models for 24.00. 53 Ford Convert 34 Ford Roadster Pick-up 32 Ford Street Pick-up The had quite a few Ford Police Cars and quite a few large ships, USS Hood, and airplanes. I'm not into those but they have them.
highway Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I had made it to my local Ollie's last week and got 4 of the police cars, the Dodge Dakota, and a 37 Cord. I'm hoping I can have some more extra cash to go buy some more soon!
Sixties Sam Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I picked up the 53 Ford hardtop, and the 34 and 32 pickups. I'm working on the pickups now, doing some mix 'n match with their parts, making fenderless rods. I'm amazed at how simple/crude those kits are. They're not very accurate, and lack a lot of detail, but in a way, that makes them fun to build, especially since I got them cheap! Sometimes I enjoy whimsical builds, when I don't have to think about being true to scale. Maybe that's blasphemy to some modelers, but I'm having fun! Sam
DRG Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 I just opened the 53 Ford convert. for a look see. It appears to be a straight forward build. detail isn't to bad and what's missing I can handle with my limited skills. Thinking about going back out tomorrow and getting a couple of those Ford Police Cars. I can always build them stock, right???
Eshaver Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Both of the Ford Pick-ups are some very old Linburg tools . Both still have a few of their "Motorized " parts still on the trees. Trying to make either one stock would really require more work than either are worth. I wound up parting out a 1932 Ford Pick- up years ago as the Full moons wound up in a 40 Ford secan, the gas tank became an oil tank for a roll back wrecker and several other parts became other parts on other models . highway Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yeah, Don, you can build the police cars stock, but word of advice, get the white undecorated ones for that. All the others are prepainted like the cars you see on the box. The Georgia state patrol car on the back of the upper deck on my car carrier is exactly how I pulled the kit from the box.
DRG Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 Considering the price evne if I just use the two trucks for extra parts I'm ahead og the game. 7.99 each wow.
