A model built specifically to be photographed and used as the image on the model box lid, as a representation of how the contents will build up.

I have a collection of original art that was proposed for Revell boxes from the 1960's. I am considering an auction for them. Perhaps E-bay ?

Bob, please let us know what you intend to do with your box art collection. It is something I think is so cool! And I wouldn't mind having a few.

I visited the JO-HAN factory in '92, and while given a tour, they showed some old box art that sat on a shelf. I said: "you should have them framed and hung on a wall" That's what I would do....

Nice site, but I saw nothing at all regarding box art models.

Biscuit (who built a bunch of box art models for AMT Corporation and Lesney/AMT)

thank you Art! the box art portion would be with the instructions when you click on it. for example if you clicked on the box art for this version of the 57 ford, http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...957-ford-fairl/ you would see the box art model too. this one was built by Terry Jessee, but there are models built by others as well. if you would like to have photos of the models you built for AMT, i would be honored to ad them!

if you would like to submit yours please email the pictures to admin@thedpmcc.com thanks!

PS.. there is a box art section being worked on that is on the Fotki site only and can be accessed through the "links" section.

the collection i have is under 50, most of the old ones on the site were scans from several different people they sent me. the ones i do have i don't know what to do with yet. i think they would look cool framed or displayed on a wall like you said though.

Bob, I see you're in Omaha. I'm in Shenandoah IA, & visit Council Bluffs/Omaha very frequently, (it's the only way I can find most of what I need, & not just hobbywise). Is there at least ONE decent dedicated hobby shop in the area? I know of & frequent HobbyTown, Gene's Toys & Collectibles at the Mall Of The Bluffs, & Tony's Toys & Collectibles at West Roads Mall. The trouble is, I have to go to all three, (or at least HobbyTown & Tony's), plus Hobby Lobby for paint, aftermarket goodies, (something Gene doesn't carry anymore), etc.

Is there a better alternative in Omaha, or anywhere nearby, (Lincoln, etc)? TIA!

BTW, I really love the site & have frequented it a good bit. In fact you helped me on a project by posting the old instructions for the AMT 36 Ford. 8)

hello from across the border! lol the shops you mentioned are pretty much the only ones i go to as well. there are TONS of stores that carry models though such as Mangelson's, Michael's, WalMart, Kmart and many more.

if you feel like popping over let me know awbcrazy@tconl.com

Hans, some of the art work has been auctioned of with proceeds going to the model car museum in Salt Lake City. this took place at the GSL just completed this week end. There are four other works which may go to the slot car museum in Los Angeles, but this is not for sure.

that is very cool! while i don't want to be responsible for hardcopy items, if you would like i can post photos or scans of the work to share. it would be a slight shame to have something that rare only be seen in the Utah museum since most can't get there. i might be heading there next time, i could not make this one since i just moved. :)
