Ben Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I built one a few years ago, but I gotta tell ya..............I practically had to reengineer everything about it as nothing fit the way I like 'em to. The doors particularly were very fiddly so I ditched the kit's hinges and made my own. Much more sturdy! If anyone of you want to build this................get set for a LOT of test fitting! ....................and hair pulling! WOW! That is a gorgeous build of that kit!!!!!!! Mine wasn't half that nice! I don't remember having any major issues with my kit. I think it was an original issue?
MrObsessive Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 WOW! That is a gorgeous build of that kit!!!!!!! Mine wasn't half that nice! I don't remember having any major issues with my kit. I think it was an original issue? It may very well have been. The later issues (mine was like the box art shown) suffered naturally from mold wear as mine had tons of flash to deal with. Not to mention that a few parts were warped, but I was able to work around those. In '64 when this kit was intro'd-------I'd say more than a few modelers were at their wits end trying to get one to be presentable. It was quite the "state of the art" when released back then.
jbwelda Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 i saw that this thread mentioned the chrysler turbine and i couldnt help but think of Bill's obsessive as it were rebuild of that kit! that is a fantastic model and it was pretty fantastic following along as he posted as he was building it! it really sets the standard in my mind.
