sno_man80 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I accidentally came across House of Kolor paint, I wanted some reviews on it. I've heard mixed reviews. I want to use it on a Linberg model I'm going to put down a white primer to protect the plastic, but I read the label on the House of Kolor 3 step program, it says all coats should go on in 2 coats each and within a couple hours between step 1 and 3. Is there any sanding between coats needed, or should I just apply it as label directions? Also I was told that dipping the windshields and other windows into Future Floor Wax and seeting it aside for a couple weeks, will give it a true glass look, how well does this work? And I don't have an airbrush system so will dipping the body into Future work, or is that best sprayed on to?Thanks.
Guest zebm1 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Dipping works, but yu gotta be very patient and remove tha part very slowly. I elmer's a piece of sprue to tha clear plastic part, dip tha part and slowly remove tha part and wick off tha last drop, then put tha sprue stick (clamped wid a clothespin) in a safe, non-trafficked place. When dry, snap off tha sprue, clean up tha attachment point and voila. Oh yeah, helps a lot ifn there are no blemishes on yur part, otherwise yu gotta polish tha "glass" just like yur paint job, BUT....yu haveta support tha clear plastic in modeler's clay or tha best "Silly putty". Tha clear plastic is very crackable when polishing. Check with Izzy aka Ismaelg, he polishes his clear parts haze free. Thats why he wins all tha arm wrestling contests. Have fun. zeb
sno_man80 Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 Is is possible to keep the glass on the tree when dipping it or is the elmers a better way to go?
