I may be able to pick up a 1964 Thunderbird for $1000. It's been stored in a garage unregistered since 1980, and was literally driven by a little old lady during the 16 years it was in use. Don't know whether it's a coupe or convertible, nor what the mileage is, but it's never been wrecked, and is all original.

I guess this is the closest to a "barn find" as I'm gonna get.

Depending on the area where it is stored and my ability to finance a rebuild I would go for it.

Strange that you know that it's been stored and unregistered since 1980, that a little old lady drove it for 16 years, and that it's all original and never been wrecked, but you don't know if it's a coupe or convertible? B)

In here..

Paid $1200 for it. All I did was throw in a battery and some gas in the carb, and drove it home..

Buy the T-bird, NOW, because you'll regret it later if you don't.... :D

Cheers, Ian

Cool, where at? Don't worry, I'm a Chevy guy! That, and if I had a grand, I'd blow it on models! LOL

Because I got the info 2nd hand and haven't talked to the current owner yet. All I know about it is what I've already shared, and that it's somewhere in my immediate area. I'll find out more particulars when I talk to the guy that owns it.

I will most definitely post pics if/when I get it. It all depends on the current owner who lives in Alabama. I already have four tires lined up for it (so I can at least roll it around) in case I am able to snag the deal.

I'm trying not to get too excited yet, though.

Don't know exactly where. Haven't talked to the guy that actually owns it yet.

Good luck I hope you get it. I was going to buy a 64 t-bird because I was gonna get a prevailing wage job but I moved out of town to be with a girl, the girl didn't work out and I wished I got the car. I still regret it.

Seen my share of them with the sides of the frames literally rusted away inside the rockers.

But one of my favorite Birds!

yeah i would particularly watch for rust and for rodents. rust for obvious reasons and rodents because they will chew and trash electrics and anything they can get their grubby little paws on. the car could easily cost you a lot if you fall in love with it and have to go completely through it. on the other hand if you uncover it and its all nice and a battery, plugs, oil and gas is all it needs, it could be sweet...especially if its a convertable.
