Guest Sickfish Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Hi guys... It's been quite a few months since I started these projects but you all know how life is these days, ups/downs, highs/lows, busy/not so busy... Etc. Anyway first of all I gotta tell ya, these aren't going to be my quickest builds & I definitely won't be breaking any build records . I started these with great motivation from my great Brazilian mate, Cesar , he's such an inspiring guy & such a talented builder. I had the idea & he motivated me to build them, no matter how long it take's So here's the low-down on them... Started with 69 Daytona ( revell ) & 70 Superbird ( Jo-Han ) I've pretty much finished up all the necessary bodywork, to give them a sleek sinister look ( when complete ) Originally I based these on Mr.Angry, if you guys are familiar with that particular Daytona/Charger. I've nick-named them The Crow ( Superbird ) & The Raven ( Daytona ) They'll both be painted gloss black, with a chrome stripe, possibly something different before a final decision anyway I've added a shaker hood to the Daytona but have left the Superbird's hood as-is... ... Should I add the Shaker to it?? All indicator lights, headlights have been sanded smooth, along with the door handles shaved & washer vent. I'm using a spare Superbee chassis for the 'Bird & kit chassis for Daytona... Both have been modified to accept bigger wheels, a 4-link rear & a fabbed new X-member for the front. I'll be using Cesar supplied A-arms & although I was going to fab' my own coil-over springs, I've decided to purchase some beautiful coils made by RBMotion... Since our Aussie $ is now high above the US $ ... Just make's sense & they're way better than anything I'd be able to fab' up . The wheels in the pics are mock-ups only as my amigo Cesar is making me some special Mopar wheels for these cars... I have seen proofs of what Cesar can do on a lathe & they're exceptionally good! Anyway here's some progress pics.... Oh yeh... I've also chopped an inch or 2 ( scaled ) off the wings & slanted them to give them a Go-fast look Cheers all, Cliffo
Randy D Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Couple of nice looking birds of prey!!!!! Looking forward to your progress Cliff Randy

diymirage Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 some of my all time favorite cars im anxious to see how they come out , right now im not digging the shaved look but who knows, i might change my mind once the paint is on
whale392 Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Hey Cliff, nice to see you building again. After your 'Twin Bees' build thread stopped, I went through withdraw syndrome......I will be watching these. Cool idea with the shaker hood scoop integration on the Daytona/Superbird platform!
Cesar Bossolani Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Hey Cliffo!!! Looks awesome on matte black bro!!! Great body job you did. Show us rear suspension pics also. Guest Sickfish Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Well guys you're not going to believe the kind've luck I've had over the Easter holidays... I went down to Sydney, about 160km away from where I live, to visit my sister for her B'day & the rest of the family for Easter. I had a nice 7 days off work & had every intention of coming back home & getting stuck into these builds. With motivation from my good mate, Cesar, I was really looking forward to some decent bench time... But you know when you're re-enthused & busting to go forward on stalled projects... BANG... Somethings bound to go wrong, very wrong! ... Well after waking up Saturday morning with severe abdominal pain & thinking I'd strained/pushed myself a little too much in the gym on Thurs, I thought some Panadol might ease the pain... Several hours later ... The pain was just overwhelming ... I took myself to the local hospital to find out the cause of the pain.... Within 2 hours I was being admitted & within 2 more I was operated on to remove a Hernia! Give's new meaning to the term " busted a gut" Lol! Anyway, spent the night in hospital & was released Sunday morning. Spent a couple of days at my sister's to recover enough to be able to drive home yesterday evening. Still all swollen up & still in post-op pain & probably will be for a few more days yet.. So it look's like I'm out of action, to do alot of things I'd planned to do & wanted to do. I've been told to do nothing but rest & no heavy or otherwise exertion. So I guess these bad boys are once again going to be put on hold for at least another month while I recover... Rest assured guys... I WILL get back to them as soon as I can sit in my hobbyroom chair for more than a few mins at a time I really appreciate all your great comments & support guys & promise to start back on the Blackbirds as soon as possible Cheers Cliffo
